“Not a Peaceful Stay!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 December 2006

I took my parents and daughter on holiday for 2 weeks to the Villa Ariston. Our room in the new building overlooked a 5 storey building site. We asked to be moved and were told the only room available was in the old building up 3 flights of steep stairs - not suitable for a toddler nor those of advancing years. Eventually they did find a suite in the new building at an extra cost and after much stressful negotiation with a rather officious and rude manageress (she would do well to learn from her more junior staff/ waiters who were lovely). Unfortunately due to the popularity of the hotel for weddings and business conferences the noise from Thursday night to Monday nights was unbearable. The new building and the main villa are both used for weddings - sometimes two a day at the week end and the celebrations afterwards which went on until the wee hours of the morning. I would say this is a great hotel for weddings but not for a relaxing holiday.

We did find a hotel up the road called the Hotel Augustus which had its own beach with a lovely restaurant and was within walking distance of Forte dei Marmi with pleasant shops, squares and restaurants......

This is a nice hotel, the one major problem was the management. I recently stayed at this hotel for a wedding. I contacted the wedding planner and changed the length of stay by email. On checking out the staff said that they had no evidence of me changing the reservation and that I had to pay for the 3 extra nights despite the fact that I had already spent nearly €600 euros with them already. There was absolutely no talking to the lady who was a manager insisting that I had to pay, she was obnoxious and I have never been as badly treated in a hotel anywhere in my life. Even the receptionist looked embarassed. All of this was carried out in the middle of the lobby. Luckily I had the mail I sent to the organiser on my web email account but it took this to prove that I was in the right. This is a lovely hotel however the level of treatment I got was about as bad as you could get.

I stayed 2 nights at the Ariston last week and it was absolute luxury. The villa, the pool, the food ,the grounds, the staff ,everything was wonderful but this an expensive hotel. If you are looking for a luxury break then it's for you. Be aware that in the main villa there isn't a lift so you may have to walk up 3 flights of steps to get to your room. In the newer building there is a lift and excellent facilities for the disabled
The only critism I have is that the villa does not have a private stretch of beach for it's guests. This is not made clear on the web site

Went to a friends wedding in the Villa Ariston and spent 3 nights there. It is a great hotel for a wedding and everything went so well. The food served in the hotel is top class and the service excellent. Our room was tiny but everyone else got beautiful large rooms which we only found out after we checked out (don't take Room 102!) but that did not dampen our enthusiasm for the hotel. Pool is very clean and nice fresh towel service is included. Breakfast is buffet style and mainly continental, not for those who want their Fry up each morning! Weather was fantastic. All in all was a great short trip, would definitely return.
