I booked a room at La Montanina via the e-mail form on the website. The landlady speaks fine English, also in e-mails. Her husband speaks it less well, but still enough to ask for the landlady!
I received quick response by e-mail and all my questions were answered. The B&B was easy to find, especially if you look it up on Google Streetview on beforehand. If you come by train, she can open the garden gate for you so you don't have to walk the last kilometres on the street.
There is enough space to park and the landlady is very hospitable. The rooms are good size and lovely decorated - she's really put work in this! Every room overlooks the backyard and has mountain view. If you are on ground floor, you have a terrace with chairs. The street is nearby but if you close the curtains, you hardly hear the cars - and at night it gets quiet. The bathroom is clean and in style with the architecture, with lots of attention to detail. The shower is good. The B&B has a sauna. The breakfast is again, lovely, with a good choice in cereals, bread, marmalade and yogurt, milk, juice and coffee if you like. We had pleasant talks with the landlady during breakfast!
There is a well-lit path from the house's garden to Limone. It is a nice walk in 10 minutes. There is a train station with a train going a few times a day, to Cuneo and Ventimiglia. (Be sure to buy your tickets in Italy, as they are cheaper than in France).
I would certainly recommend this B&B if you appreciate a good stay, you want to see the mountains, and make a trip to the sea and cities along the coast. The trains are not expensive and the route from Limone to Ventimiglia knows some beautiful mountain villages where you can hop off.
