“Great location”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

We stayed in hotel mea whilst travelling around the aeolian island. The hotel is very clean and well kept and the rooms are excellent even if the bathrooms are slightly small . The pool area is great with views across the town and out to sea. The hotel is ideally located for the town. Overall this is a very good hotel with reasonable prices

Room Tip: I think only free wifi in reception

We had the misfortune to stay at this hotel - what a rip off. The water was Luke warm at best. When we complained they continually lied to us & every one else complaining about the lack of hot water. it was only days later that they admitted that they turn the temperature if the water low to save money.
Also, get to breakfast early - they do not replace anything. One morning we arrived at 9:30 and all that was left were a few stale croissants. When I asked for a second cup of coffee I received a very dirty look and no coffee.
Lipari is great. This hotel really spoiled our holiday.

Room Tip: There is no good room at this hotel as they do not provide hot water for showers

We just returned after 3 nights in this hotel....the staff were wonderful, especially Sarah and Ben. Great recommendations for trips and general advice. Also the waitress on breakfast duty was so attentive. Rooms beautiful...really stylish. Pool lovely. One of the best and most enjoyable hotels we have stayed in.

Advice: ask for towels at pool...they are available.

Room Tip: We were on first floor near lift...perfect. Ben even adjusted the air conditioning to our satisfact...

As we got to the ferry port we were collected by their shuttle service. It's a 5 minute drive to the hotel but worth it if you have luggage and it's free! The hotel is beautiful and small, definately a luxury boutique hotel with the most pritiest views. As we arrived the staff were so attentive and helpful and friendly. Our room was lovely on the ground floor room 104. A 2 second walk to the pool and a great space for 2. The hotel looks better in life and the photos although sold it to me it's definately a gem. The pool is lovely and so private as the hotel isn't gushing with people which is a good thing. The decor is so pretty and all staff were lovely and made our stay so much more nicer. The bar man did take 2 hours to make our granitas the local dessert/iced drink which is a must to have through your stay in Sicily, however as he took ages to make them for us we ended up not paying for them which made sense as it was so hot and the waiting took forever...

All the staff were so helpful. Definately nook the tours through them as they explain at the beginning. Although we didn't and took partn the Stromboli and salina day tour from 2-10pm it's definately worth it and a must see.

The breakfast is lovely with a great selection to choose from. I loved the blood orange fresh juice.. Make sure you try that.

I would definately recommend this hotel just wish I stayed more than the 3 nights but as we were traveling around Sicily we could only accommodate these days. Lipari is beautiful and so much to see and do. ,are sure you head to Kasbar for dinner.. Top restaurant with great prices and it's beautiful there too.

Make sure you walk around the town at night and pop into the shops that are open toll late. So much to see and do, and this hotel is a great location to see this beautiful island from.

Room Tip: Pick a sea view.. Views amazing. I loved the ground floor as easy to get to the pool which I was in...

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Mea in the suite with our two small children in June. The suite was fairly small and not particularly nice. There were brown rust marks on the floor. The bathroom was also small, there was no bath tub for our two year old and no air conditioning in the bathroom so the window had to remain open to let in the heat and bugs.
The balcony patio was nice to have but the view of the sea was tainted by large water or oil containers. I was surprised that none of the other reviews I read before booking this hotel mentioned the compromised view.
On the positive side- the staff was helpful in booking dinner reservations and excursions. Maria was especially lovely.
The pool was gorgeous and quiet with a bartender and snacks to escape the afternoon's extreme heat.
However, the hotel was just okay... not luxurious.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in June. We were picked up at the ferry, Check in was efficient and staff were warm & welcoming. Our room was on the small side but it was clean and had everything we needed with a nice balcony area. Only 2 pillows provided for double bed so had to request 2 more (none in wardrobe) least u should expect is 2 pillows each. The pool area is beautiful, overlooking the island, fab! The problem however was the distinct lack of any service here. If you want drinks you have to go in to the hotel & wait 10 mins for some1 to appear & then no one collects empties by the pool. We started bringing our own drinks etc which was easier but there isn't even a bin around so everything piles up & it's a pity for such a nice hotel to not have any pool service in June. Another small thing that bothered us was you have to go to reception every morning for pool towels & return them yourself every evening. I was asked to use them for 2 days in a row as they didn't have many! That's unacceptable when your paying over 100e a night you should expect fresh towels, it's unhygienic with the heat, sun lotions etc to reuse these. Buy more and have them around the pool area with a collect/drop area. They don't even cover the chairs which get very hot as their plastic but I was afraid to ask for 2! Breakfast was fine when we arrived early but it only goes until 10, if u get down anytime after 9.30 everything's gone and they don't replenish. We asked for eggs one morning as there were none left as usual, 1 fried egg each and a bill for 10e arrived on our table (which was rectified after complaining)
The hotel itself is lovely but it has too much letting it down service wise to return here for the money they charge.

Room 105 was large, airy and modern with a great shower and nice little patio with colourful bougainvillea and heavenly scented jasmine. Great location, super friendly staff and an easy walk into town. The pool has lovely views of town and the Acropoli, lots of shade and easy access. Breakfast was exceptional with lots of variety and the most delicious blood orange juice but the staff were slow to set up and replenish items unless prompted. The family dog, Roger, is adorable and quite the celebrity about town!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms opposite the TV/computer sitting area as they can be quite noisy.
