“Splendid Location; Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2012

Our stay at Rocce Azzure was excellent from the moment we were picked up on the quay to the moment we were dropped back. The drive to the hotel has one wondering if we were actually going to end up in the sea! Yes it is that close, with a terrace actually over the sea. We were very lucky having one of the two rooms with a terrace overlooking the small bay; this bay being one of the few places where you can swim off Lipari town. The staff were very helpful and very friendly full of helpful information. It is apparently the oldest Hotel on Lipari and very proud of its location.

With a few changes and attentions to detail it could have moved into the excellent category; in particular the pillows, some of the decor and most annoyingly on an island were fruit is so abundant why only provide artificial orange juice at breakfast!

All in all most enjoyable.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the two with a sun terrace as opposed to balcony.

We have just had a week with adriano and all the incredibly friendly staff at the hotel Rocce Azzure, it was just a great week. First impressions were that this is a really warm, friendly and happy place, it conjures up memories of childhood beach holidays.
The room we had was ocean facing with 2 balconies it was spotlessly clean, tiled floor made that beach house feel. simply furnished but adequate. A bathroom where taking a shower with what has to be the best view of all time out the window. in the afternoon with both doors open allowed a beautiful sea breeze to blow through.
we had half board the food was terrific heaps of fresh seafood homely cooked and the menu wasn't repeated in the 7 days. The grilled swordfish stuffed rolls were awesome. And eating right on the waters edge magnificent. The breakfast was typical italian, cereals, cakes meats and coffee.
The swimming platform is great allowing you to take a cooling swim before breakfast and any other time for that matter. The water was clear and and we didn't see a jellyfish in the week we were there.
The location, i'd read "a little out of the way" its a 5 minute walk to the little port (great place for a drink)and then a further 5 minutes to the corso vittorio emmanuele III which is the main street with bars, restaurants, banks, supermarket etc. The hotel is built right on the water and you would be hard pressed to find a 3 star hotel with a better location
The hotel is highly recommended we will be back for sure. Lipari and the hotel rocce azzure was just the best place to spend a week.

Room Tip: The seaview rooms are worth every cent

The title says it all, this place is awesome! We stayed in 9 hotels throughout Italy and this one was the best of all of them. The location is a little out of the way but once you've found your way around it's very close to the best part of the Island. The hotel is great, the staff are excellent, the food is very good, the access to the ocean is so nice after a long day of touring and the view is the best!
Make sure that you ask for a room with a view of the ocean.
We highly recommend this place to anyone and we will be back.

Room Tip: Request a room with an ocean view, you wont regret it!

Lovely little hotel with friendly staff. Rooms were really clean, nicely furnished and decorated with sunny yellow feature wall, beautiful white tiled floor and good big bathroom and long comfortable twin beds. Double doors with shutters oustide led to small balcony with view across dining terrace to the sea; so peaceful at night. Swimming from a platform with sunbeds & umbrellas straight into sea (ladder down could have been a bit more secure and needsd algae scrubbed off at the bottom). Food had very little choice and not exciting - coffee and juice at breakfast horrible being powdered and from a machine. But quick walk to town (great little place) would get something better. Would go again - great boat trips to other islands.

Room Tip: Pay for a sea view and rooms without looked at a wall but there is no road anowhere near the hotel s...

Let's face it, if we say precisely how good the Rocce Azzurre is, you'll all want to go, and we won't get a room! But hey ho, you ought to know.

It's brilliant. We (Mr and Mrs) stayed half-board for 13 nights in June, booking through Long Travel. Fine weather, warm but not too hot, every day. The hotel's position overlooking the bay couldn't be bettered. Good food, romantic environment, helpful staff, the fantastic Adriano and family, beautiful town, easy transfers (which would be easier if BA reverted to their previous flight times to Catania, but that's no fault of the hotel or Lipari), good walking - the trip to the Observatory took a bit of puff - comfortable room with fantastic views of an ever-changing seascape, swimming, snorkelling, lazing about, all in all those 13 nights and days have to be some of the best we've ever had in Italy, indeed ever.

In Lipari town, try Subba's cafe half-way along Vittorio Emanuele street. We still salivate over the photos we took of their cakes.

Great hotel, beautiful little town, Adriano for president!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with balcony and sea view. We were on the third floor, which is the top fl...

Idyllic setting with view over the blue sea.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, especially the owner and his daughter.
They booked the trip to Stromboli for us, as well as arranging tranfer to and from ferry port.
Bedroom had a small balcony overlooking the sea.
Simply but adequately furnished with good lighting, fridge and safe. Spotlessly clean. Plenty of plugs.
A/C available for later in year.
Breakfast simple but coffee/tea/chocolate machine good.
Evening meal excellent: owner came round one evening and offered fresh squid that he had caught that day in addition to the evening meal (no extra cost!).
Lovely to see fresh fish being brought in by small motor boat for that evening's dinner; when we asked what fish it was, we were told, 'I don't know what it is in English, but you will enjoy it - we did!
Wine very reasonably priced
Recipes also given with great enthusiasm (which we have done-thank you!)
Nothing too much trouble for the staff.
A 10 minute walk into the town centre where there are plenty of places for a coffee/lunch/sit to watch the world go by.
Only downside was the steep slope to access hotel so not suitable for disabled.
A brilliant experience; cannot recommend too highly!

Room Tip: Pay extra for sea view and bathroom. Worth every penny/euro.

We returned to Rocce Azzure here for a week in June as we wanted a relaxing holiday with great food & views, we were not disappointed!.

The location is amazing, the food is very good and the staff are extremely helpful, they even opened the restaurant at 6:30am so we could have breakfast before catching the 7am ferry.

We will be back, although next time we will book the hotel & transfers with the hotel & flight on the net, rather than through a travel agent.

Room Tip: The top floor suite (325) is good as it has two balconies.
