“A truly wonderful experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2013

Stayed there for a week in June and by the end we truly did not want to leave. The hotel provides a brilliant introduction to Lipari and the Aeolian Islands with their easy going, friendly and charming staff who could not do enough to assist our stay.
Room was excellent, spotless clean, nice balcony overlooking the sea. Food was great, lots of pasta, fish, risotto, local veggies, fruit, reallyjust what the locals eat.
Brilliantissimo, when not we go back to lovely Lipari we will stay there again definitely.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view,

Right on the water, with great views. Ask to be collected from the ferry and save yourselves 15 euro. The rooms have magnificent views, are clean, large enough with comfortable beds. Breakfast is plentiful and on a gorgeous terrace over the water. One minus the tea bags were tasteless! the staff were friendly and helpful - English spoken if that's important to you, they also have a lift - good for the luggage. It's a 5 minute walk to marina corta and a few more minutes to the castle and Main Street. we stayed 2 nights ...could easily stay longer.

Room Tip: We had rooms 311 and 222 ...both excellent...balconies and sea views

From the moment of our arrival we knew we had made the right choice. Our host greeted us at the harbour and took us straight to the hotel where we were quickly checked in and shown to our room. On the first floor we had a spacious accomodation with balcony overlooking the bay and the sea lapping up below, especially relaxing when sleeping.

If we had to say only one thing about this hotel it would be the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff who were genuinely concerned for the quality and comfort of our stay, and no matter how pressed, always had time to see to any request.

The size of the hotel was small enough to be informal yet provided dining facilities with restaurant style. The food was excellent without doubt and came with service to match. My partner is vegan, so dining is always a concern, but here, nothing was too much trouble, just ask and they are happy to please.

We thought the location ideal, situated in a quiet, relaxing corner of Lipari Town, literally next to the sea yet just a 5 minute walk from the small harbour or just a further 5 minutes walk to the main street and port. With its 3 Star rating, I personally would have given the hotel a 4 but perhaps no pool is the reason for this. However, I would gladly sacrifice the extra star and pool for the friendly atmosphere of the hotel.

We booked through 'Sicilian Experience' and were more than satisfied with the service they provided, from making the choice and booking, to the efficiency of the transfers and arrangements.

We will definitely return and can highly recommend Rocce Azzurre for quality, service and a guaranteed relaxing stay.

We stayed at the Rocce Azzurre for 8 days with Cricketer Holidays and our Guide Tullio. We had a junior suite, which gave us lots of room with excellent furniture and fittings, an on-suite bathroom, the room was spotless and was cleaned every day.

The hotel staff, including the owner, were very friendly, helpful, provided great service and spoke good English.

Breakfast was continental style and there was a good choice to suit most people. The lunch and dinner included homemade pasta, fresh local seafood specialities and was of an excellent standard, well prepared and presented. We ate the meals we had mainly outside on the restaurant patio. Wine was very reasonably priced, as were the prices in the hotel bar.

Although about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Lipari, the location of the hotel on the sea is ideal with a sun deck and sun loungers.

Wi-Fi is available free around the hotel reception area.

Room Tip: We paid extra for a Junior Suite and we were in room 101 which had two balconies and had a terrific...

This small hotel is situated in a quiet, waterside location, a brisk 10-minute or so walk from the main harbour. The hotel arranges separate transfer of luggage. Outside the hotel, there is a steep (albeit short) hill which guests have to negotiate. There is a lift to all floors. There is a bar area with adequate seating, although the hotel was quiet during our stay. The restaurant is light and airy with large windows on 2 sides. Outside is a terrace with tables where we had breakfast, weather permitting. Below the terrace is a small sun deck. Breakfast was adequate, although there was no fresh fruit, only tinned, surprising given that fresh fruit is widely available on the island. Dinner was very good, particularly the pasta and fish courses. Service in the restaurant was also very good. The hotel advised us to drink bottled water only (tap water is imported from Naples via tanker). Initially I was given room 106, which doesn't have a balcony (although most rooms do) which was immediately above a public area so was noisy. The mattress was very lumpy and uncomfortable and I didn't sleep well so the next day I asked to be moved. I was transferred to room 330, which whilst much quieter, doesn't have a balcony either. Room 330 has twin beds, a table and chair, TV, sufficient hanging space for clothes and very good lighting. The bathroom is fit for purpose although the shower is a bit primitive, being very small with a wrap-around curtain. The hotel staff readily gave advice on boat trips and helped to arrange them.

It was hard to rate this place. I felt the price was high for the accommodations but the view of the water was great. We slept with the balcony doors open and listened to the waves as we fell asleep. The front deck staff was wonderful but our room was never cleaned and no asked if we wanted it clean. On oversight maybe but for the price it should have been done. The breakfast was pretty basic too. We ate dinner there once and it was very good. The place is a walk from the center of town about 10 minutes up and down hills. We did get a discount o. Our rooms so I know I would not pay the fun price. The bathrooms were nice with a big show but the rest of the furniture was old and the beds need to be replaced or a least better pillows provided. If a view is your main goal is a good place.

Good sea view. The hotel is really on the sea. Located in a quiet bay but within walking distance from the port (10-15 minutes)
Nice hotel owner.
I guess I was the only guest of the hotel on the last night of the stay. The hotel could still offer nice dinner.
