We stayed here in January for a week's skiing and although the weather and the skiing were both excellent, we found this hotel very variable. On arrival, after a very long day's travelling, the receptionist could not have been more off hand, throwing us our room keys while on the phone. The trek to our room took a full 10 mins - involving 2 very long corridors, 3 flights of stairs and 2 separate lifts. Not easy with our cases - anyone with mobility issues would have had real problems. The bins in the room had not been emptied, the tap in the bathroom dripped constantly and the bed was rock hard. Not a good start, made worse by a very ordinary meal of overcooked schnitzels. However in the morning a most helpful receptionist apologised, changed our room and arranged for our cases to be taken there. Staff smoked in the corridors but the staff in the restaurant were excellent and the Maitre D ran a tight operation however the food varied from awful (tinned tuna hidden in a mountain of cold potato) through very ordinary (dry roasted chicken the size of a parrot) through acceptable (venidson casserole) to superb - the final buffet on our last night was magnificent with seafood, prawns, breseola, parma ham, poached salmon, roast beef, roast suckling pig, large variety of vegs etc and huge dessert buffet. Why could some of this excellent produce not have appeared during the week. Breakfasts were good with a short order cook making omelettes etc although the same limited range of tinned fruit and croissants / bread appeared every day. The hotel is situated a good way out of the village so an evening stroll is not possible. The ski bus service is excellent and we never waited more than a few minutes for one to come, however this finishes at ~7.30pm - after that you need to take a taxi. The claim 'ski-in, ski-out' is dubious - the hotel sits at the end of a black run, the ski bus is needed to get to all the lifts. We tried the Wellness Centre for which a charge of 6 euros each is levied. This is a small whirlpool, small steam room (which comfortably takes only 2) and 2 saunas each would take maybe 4 people. It was a very limited facility for the size of the hotel. Wifi is not available in the rooms but is in reception. Two computers are available for which there were often queues. 2hr internet log-ins were handed out free of charge which was good. Overall we felt that this hotel has the potential to be very good but misses out on too many aspects of what you expect in a quality hotel nowadays.
