“Perfect place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2013

We stayed at Lauretum for a week this August and have nothing but praise for the B&B. Our room was enormous and very cool - although we had a fan we never needed to use it as the breezes blew through the windows and cooled the room in the evening. It was all spotlessly clean, our bed was wonderfully comfortable (and we are fussy about beds!) and the bathroom was large and cool. The palazzo had an air of elegance and comfort you seldom come across nowadays - it was contemporary in decoration but redolent of the sophistication of times gone past. The family who run Lauretum are all charming and only too eager to make you feel as comfortable as possible. We will certainly recommend Lauretum to our friends, and also the town of Loreto Aprutino. We ate at the restaurant just next door (a bit hot), at La Girasole (delicious) and at the New Evo. The two museums are extremely interesting and the guides speak perfect English. We miss Loreto Aprutino and Lauretum! Thank you for our excellent stay with you all.

We only stayed at B&B Lauretum for one night, but would have loved to stay longer if we had had more time. Walking into the B&B immediately made us feel at home with the very warm welcome and excellent introduction to the B&B and its facilities.

The room was classical Italian, very large and very comfortable, with a nice view over the neighbouring castle. Even though we stayed in the middle of August and the room did not have airco, we managed to keep the room cool enough with the provided fan. Parking was very easy as the B&B provides a resident's parking pass for their guests, so you can basically park right next to the B&B.

Breakfast was typical Italian and very good. Facilities such as wifi and garden/terrace were all very good. The B&B building, or rather palace, is just beautiful and being taken care of very well by the hosts. We will recommend Lauretum B&B to all of our friends!

One final point: the restaurant recommend by the hosts, namely New Evo, which is just down the hill and about a 10 minute walk from the B&B, is very good. It has very friendly service and very tasty food (try their arrosticini!).

This is more that you could dream for in a b and b. I stayed for one night with my daughter. Felt like living in a castle with stupendous views, charming hosts, very comfortable and spacious in a magical and very well kept historic village.

Would be worth spending a week here to explore Abruzzo.

Just one point, would not recommend eating in the restaurant next door...we had absolutely the opposite experience, unfriendly bad service ...

The B&B is a former palace in the center of Loreto Aprutino's old town next to a castle, which is now a hotel. A very lovely young family owns and personally manages the B&B. Only a few rooms are available right now, but more are being renovated. There are two floors for guests reached by a marble staircase, plus a courtyard and breakfast room on the ground floor. Spacious rooms, tile and old frescoes, antique furniture, vaulted ceilings, large curtained windows that open to the cool mountain breezes at night...like going back to the 19th century! We liked everything, especially the owners Marianna, Alessandro, and Anna Laura. They were very kind and generous. This is not a modern, pristine, faux antique facility, but rather is genuine. Just about everything except the bathroom fixtures is antique. That has its pleasures and its drawbacks. But the drawbacks are far outweighed by the reasonable price charged for these large rooms in this wonderful old palace. Be aware that there is no lift so if you have heavy luggage or bad knees the long flight of stairs might be taxing. There are no guest rooms on the ground floor where the family lives.

I stayed in this charming old Italian family home in October when there were very few tourists around so I almost felt I had the huge place to myself. The place has character and history and the owners were very friendly helping me with my rusty Italian. I had a big grand double room with huge shuttered windows which opened onto the quiet and very Italian street. I had a delicious breakfast of local food in the morning and next door is a lovely and reasonable restaurant. The town is lovely and offers a good base for exploring Abruzzo if you have a car.

Lauretum is a beautiful bed&breakfast located in a old Italian family-house. Most of the furniture inside are original antiques from the owner's family and each room has been recently renewed and personalized. The atmosphere inside the house is from another time and space, high ceiling, big staircases, view on Loreto Aprutino castle. The place is calm, quiet and romantic.

The generous breakfast matches perfectly the traditional hospitality skills of the people from Abruzzo.

Loreto Aprutino, is in a wonderful position for visiting the the great variety of nature that the region of Abruzzo can offer, mountains, hills, coast and lakes. Loreto Aprutino is just right close to the Gran Sasso and the Maiella national parks. Adriatic cost is less than 30 minutes away.

We considered Lauretum a wonderful find - a great place to stay and fabulous value for money. The house is a wonderful home that has been in the family for generations - and we really got a sense of being transported into a different world while we stayed here. We had a huge floor that we shared with just one other couple. Our bedroom was enormous - and we had 4 other reception rooms and a large bathroom at our disposal as well, including a T.V. room and there was a fridge available for our use too. We did have to share the bathroom but this never presented any difficulties for us.

The people who run Lauretum, Marianna and her mother, are wonderful, friendly people. They were so patient with us as we tried our basic Italian and we learned a lot from them too. There is no air conditioning which was fine as with the shutters closed and windows open the breeze from the hills was lovely at night. There was a bit of street noise though, and we had the church bells and cooing pigeons for company too. This was OK though as it gave us a real sense of place.

We discovered that the excellent Valentina wine was being made and bottled across the street - watch out for it, it's gorgeous. There's a regular bus service to Pescara and Penne but you'll probably need a car if you really want to explore the area. We recommend La Bilancia, a short drive away, for excellent food and service. New Evo is the only restaurant in the village and we happily ate there on 3 occassions. Floriana is a traditional restaurant a short uphill walk from the centre, with a great view over the old village. Pizza from Joly on the square is great too. And you must have gelati from Rychots bar - and a few glasses of prosecco, of course!
