“Best skiing resort!”
Reviewed 6 January 2014 via mobile

The hotel has the friendliest staff and waiters. The half board menu is fantastic and great value for money. The only disappointment was the size of the rooms, especially the bathrooms.
But it was awesome being able to ski in and ski out.

We returned from 7 nights at the Cerana Relax in the pretty resort of Madonna di Campiglio. The location is perfect for ski in/out and only a short walk to the village - which is certainly the part of Italy that the recession hasn't hit...! The Cerana reception staff were very helpful before and during our holiday. The spa/relaxation area was clean, modern and quite comfortable. Great sauna. The food in the evening was always varied, very tasty and always a pleasure. Portion sizes were generous, plus a great salad and dessert bar/buffet. What really made it for us was the excellent service we received from the 5 waiters - the hardworking team were all charming, speedy and very professional, whilst being funny and friendly. Breakfasts were also plentiful and high quality. The only downsides would be that the rooms are relatively simple and are more 3* than the rest of the hotel (which I think is an accurate 4*) and the wifi was very poor, no matter where you were in the hotel. The PC terminal in the reception was pretty useless as well. This was made slightly easier to bear given that even the tourist office in the village had poor wifi. In conclusion, we had a great break over NY and do not regret convincing our friends to meet us all the way from Johannesburg (we only had to fly from London)!

I traveled with a large group to Madonna di Campiglio from Milan airport. Right off the bat they helped us take our luggage. The hotel lobby is very spacious, which was especially important for our large group arriving around 1pm. The elevator was a let down, given how slowly it functioned and how it would go to the highest floor first (if you pressed floor 1 and then floor 3, it would first take you to floor 3).

The hotel has a nice ski room where all boots/boards can be stored so you can get your gear on and leave easily through the garage door straight to the street. The garage exit leaves you with a short 1 minute walk to the end of a black diamond slope, where you can walk down a somewhat steep trail or strap in and slide down (the closer way versus walking by road to the lift).

Amenities: Game room with foosball table, 2 arcade games, pinball machine. Sauna is spacious and nicely built. Turkish bath (steam room) is also nicely designed. Showers are spacious with a relax room to lay out on lounge chairs and enjoy a view of town. The pool and jacuzzi are spacious as well with the entire spa experience having great light displays to create relaxing auras. Basic massage was great. Exercise room had two pulley weight sets and a stepmaster. WiFi internet was available, but very weak in some parts of the hotel. You can get 12 hours of WiFi service (non-continuous, where you must login/logout) for 5 Euros. Cleaning ladies take care of your room in the morning and during dinner, very neat.

Rooms: I slept in a quad room, which was very spacious and worked well for me. My friend in the group had a very small room with barely any space to maneuver in. This was in the older part of the hotel (there is a renovated portion that we didn't stay in).

Pros: Close to the gondola lift, amazing dining experience, beautiful spa, great spacious bar/cafe, nicely furnished/spacious smoke room
Cons: No shampoo/bars of soap/flip flops provided. There is also a swim cap requirement for the pools (5 euros for swim caps, 7 euros for flip flops). About a 15 min walk to town, which can be rough in snowy/rainy weather. Inconsistent internet connection. Often not worth waiting for elevator. No vents in the bathrooms.

This is a small family hotel right by the Spinale ski lift. Two parents, and two adult daughters, spent a family Christmas here and would gladly do it again. Every aspect of the service was immaculate. The family front desk was helpful beyond the call of duty; the waiters were efficient, friendly, perfectly dressed at all times, and quickly learned our family’s preferences. Housekeeping was faultless: beds were made and rooms cleaned while we were at breakfast, and beds turned down, shutters closed, towels replaced while we were at dinner. The whole hotel was spotless, from the cosy public areas to our bathrooms. The most striking plus is the food. Every night was a delight – four choices for primi and for secondi, and a big range of desserts, plus an antipasto. The food was imaginative, delicious, and beautifully presented. For Christmas dinner, there were eight courses, including a main fish and a main meat course. But before we were allowed to dine, delicious canapés and drinks were served in the bar and the lobby for best part of an hour. There’s a small but well-chosen wine list. We stuck to Trentino wines, all priced between €25 and €35, and all were excellent.
There’s a small wellness centre, with a sauna, hammam, and relaxation room, which is useful after a hard day’s skiing. Treatments were available, and the one we experienced was good.
The location is about 100m from the Spinale cabinovia, and it is possible to ski from the hotel, though scarcely worth it since you have to take your skis off to get on to the lift. But we did ski back to within 10m of the hotel door.
Our bedroom was pleasantly decorated like the rest of the hotel with painted wood. The bathroom was adequate, but with none of the extras that have become standard – such as shower caps, shampoo, etc. We had a panorama room with a balcony – worth the extra for the view of the mountains across the valley.
Most of the guests were Italian families with young children. In fact, most of the visitors to Madonna are Italians, so knowing some Italian is a big help.

Hotel said to be restored, but restoration just involved the SPA and a part of the rooms. Others are old fashioned, with old and damaged furniture. No decoration, no carpet, poor towels with holes and marks. Nevertheless rooms are clean and housekept twice a day. Bathroom is the wrost of the room. Poor shower inside a tube with an old curtain. No vanities at all and no advices that they could be available on request. I'd never imagined to stay in 4 stars rated and be compelled to bring a shampoo by myself. Hairdryer was an old style pipe hanging from the wall: never seen even in a 3 stars.
Pillows were so hard that caused a pain in my neck during all the holiday.
Tha SPA area is new and very good. Nice pool with beds, nice sauna and steam bath.
Any kind of control about rules respect. Even the children weren't allowed to enter in the wellness area there always were unpolite kids making noise in the showers, inside the sauna and even in the relax area.
Impossible to relax in the pool always full of kids diving, crying and doing a lot of noise.
On the other hand staff was very king, food great and the position of the hotel is very good for skying as you so close to the chairlift.

I am so reluctant to write this review as I so dont want to tell the rest of you what you are missing out on. This hotel is absolutely superb, it is marketed as a 4 star but I have stayed in many 5 stars that can only aspire to be this good. A wonderful hotel suitable for all.
Reception.
My Italian is poor and so is there english but who cares, this time my schoolboy german worked and we all understood each other. Every day they have a welcoming smile and are so keen to help. In fact on the first night the owner parked our car. I think he recognised a poor driver.
Restaurant
I am so fussy about food and because of my job eat in some of the best restaurants in London. The food here is absolutely superb. Four courses every night and everyone of them delicious. desserts are to die for, they must all be home made. Even a separate cheese course with at least 8 different varieties. Lucky it is so close to the ski lifts :-) The waiters are absolutely attentive and professional - some of the best ever.
Wellness Centre
Top quality with great pool, jacuzzi and steam room and sauna.
Rooms.
Exceptionally comfortable with a turn down service. Excellent is not a word I would use lightly

Stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks this year. General impression of the hotel is very good. Design, location, stuff, spa - everything is on high level. I would like to note that this hotel has the best dinners in town. We've been to other hotels and restaurants in Madonna - Cerana's cuisine is absolutely the best! As for minuses of this place - rooms are quite small and there is no place where to dry your clothes after a long skiing day in the mountains. And also it is difficult with English language at the reception. they should at least understand that I want a map of a town.
