“A wonderful hotel”
Reviewed 22 February 2014 via mobile

I have arrived home in England today 22/2/14 after spending a week in the the Hotel La Baita in Madonna Di Campiglio and for good reason feel the need to review this hotel without delay. Last year I stayed at the Dahu with the intention of returning there for the ski to door and hospitality but circumstances led me and my partner to the La Baita, it is a choice that did not disappoint. The la Baita is so very friendly and incredibly clean and great value for money.
First impression of breakfast was not good as the choice was limited to cereal, cake, and the usual cold buffet breakfast typical of continental Europe but we learned that we only needed to ask and more options were available, scrambled eggs and 'bacon' (cured ham cooked so very nice) or boiled eggs and ham and cheese etc etc... I can only surmise that they are reducing waste by not pre cooking food just to waste or encourage gluttony.
The hotel is in a great location for the town centre, restaurants and the lifts, the Pradalago lift is uphill about 50 metres and no hardship, the slalom stadium is closer but once there you have to be prepared to employ a Sherpa if you are cracking on in years to carry your snow board and piercings for the last 30 metres up a snowy hill to either catch the ageing chairlift or ski down to the next gondola. On the way back to the hotel from the slopes catch the Blue 55 (if you are American this is not a bus it is a short ski run and there are no burger bars for refreshment en route) from the Fortini lift and you are basically at the door once you have crossed the quiet road..
To sum up this hotel; it is very comfortable, well run by lovely people, clean towels every day and a great location. It is not pretentious and the facilities are more than adequate with free parking. Ariston wanted to charge more for parking than the cost to hire a car..firefly by the way are a Hertz subsidiary and have been reasonable..Avoid Europcar as they WILL invent a claim for damage and try to charge you given the opportunity. I was charged £1000 for pre existing damage by Europcar but I had indelible conclusive photographic evidence of the pre existing damage but despite this it took many months and legal action to recover my stolen money.. Be warned..
Back to La Baita and a great ski resort.. If you are looking for comfortable accommodation and good skiing for all levels but intermediate skiing with the odd high speed black run to earn a schnapps and a heart flutter then this is the place..
Thank you La Baita for a lovely holiday..

Hotel La Baita is undoubtedly the best you can find if you are looking for quality, respectability, and if you are a mountain lover. I have known the owners for decades, since when they managed Il Groste’. The Serafini’s fame as great hosts has been renown to those who have skied in the Alps, as well as to those who have climbed those mountains or just reached Il Groste’ by cable lift to enjoy the indescribable scenery and profound experience of being on top in the heart of Europe. They finally decided to invest their life-long expertise in the Hotel La Baita, one of the most prestigious in the area. A multilingual family, Annalise comes from South Tyrol, their guests reach ‘them’ from all around the world and have always found a warm welcome in a family-like atmosphere with the many “little attentions” that make a holiday worth living. Although close to meadows, paths, the thick woods in which you can breathe scented fresh air, and in winter just a few meters from skiing lifts. The Hotel is set right in the center, making it easy to alternate peaceful moments in solitude in nature, with the joyful social and glittering life of the hotel or of the town. Annalise’s cuisine can beat the quality of the best homemade food as the one of first class restaurants: having mixed the recipes of excellent German cakes with the most refined Italian cuisine to which local dishes are added with fresh local products. My only regret? That holidays are too short…

Room Tip: Ask Annalise and she will give you the right room for you.

We stayed at the end of summer so things may be different in the ski season, but we were charmed by the friendly personal service from the family running the hotel. Rooms were spotless and reasonably sized, and the location is right in the heart of the village.
