“Long queues!”
Review of Monte Baldo

It was very busy and this is actually 2 cable cars so when yo think you are finally getting to the top you have to get out and queue to get on another cable car. My husband has health issues and all the queueing left him unable to do much walking at the top which was a shame given the cost. There were lots of walks though I feel the sign posts and information could be much improved.

We took an early boat across to Malchesne to get the Cable Car up Monte Baldo. We brought our cable car tickets on boat to save time but need not have bothered. Last time came here twenty years ago it wasn't such a smooth operation but now all very organised and nice clean toilets.
We went up two stages and arrived at peak. We took fleeces as it could have been cold but not this time we were ok in Tshirt! There are a couple of cafés at top for coffee and snack not too expensive considering. We walked up ski run sat and took a picture with snow for posterity. Wonderful forna and flora with loads of songbirds.
For animal lovers don't miss cute alpacas which are over left hand side from cable car exit. There are no signs but if you walk towards the 'cliff' where the para gliders go off you cannot miss these animals. There is a shop with alpaca products and you can treat with them.
The self service cafe is a bit ordinary so we took the cable down to St Michaels and got off to go to the Monte Baldo Bar/restaurant.
Well worth 18 Euro as it's a hell of a walk!

The cable car to Monte Baldo is in 2 parts, ascending 500 metres and then swapping into 2nd cable car for another 1250 metres.
Views are spectacular with plenty of walks on the top. Unbelievable - it was 32 degrees in June 2014 and there was snow on the mountain. Great watching the para gliders set up their equipment and then race and jump off. Nearly paid for a tandem jump but decided not too in the end.

We took the two cable cars up to Mount Baldo to get better views over Malcesine and the lake. It was only 6 degrees centigrade up there so we did not go hiking on the mountain. We had lunch which was good and then went back for Malcesine. On a warmer day it would have been a nice place to hike.

Get the cable car ticket from a boat pontoon to avoid the long queue. There are two eating places on top with one offering rooms. I wanted to spend longer up there as there are lots of easy walks with fantastic views.
