You can buy a return ticket and also entry into Malcesine Castle for 22 Euros. Just try and pick your day for a number of reasons. First if its low cloud you wont see anything from the top. Also the waiting time can sometimes be over an hour for your cable car. So try and pick a clear day and an early morning start. Enjoy , the scenery is magnificent. You can also do long walks when at the top, my wife and I walked for approx 4 hours. There is also a number of cafes on the top and they are reasonable, large pizza 8 Euros. Tip, take some ear plugs if the grazing cows are about, all you hear is the cow bells ringing. Only messing about the ear plugs , its very romantic.

“Breath Taking”

A fast and efficient climb to the top of Monte Baldo where you have panoramic views of Lake Garda and beyond, if you are lucky with the cloud cover. If you pay for the ascent you can park within the underground car park for €4.50 for as long as you are up the mountain. There is a good cafe/restaurant at the top where you can get everything from an expresso to a 3 course lunch. There are llamas, cows and horses at the top, which enjoy a stroke as you pass.

A must do.... but choose the weather and take a coat... the cable cars can get crowded and although they publish a timetable when they are busy they run continuously

“Exhilarating hike up Monte Baldo!”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

Have been up Baldo many times, by far the most rewarding experience is to walk up there using the well marked paths, challenging but exhilarating! This time it took me 3.5 hrs to walk from Malcesine town to the summit, starting at the path to the right of the cable car station. The first part of the climb to San Michele is steep but direct and took about an hour, then from here you follow the paths and narrow roads to the summit. Recommend good footwear as during parts of the climb you may need to scramble especially if there has been rain making conditions a bit more difficult. Take plenty of water as after San Michele there are no obvious refreshment stops until you get to the top. The views are spectacular all the way up and if you are lucky enough to have a clear day you will enjoy stunning views of the lake, Alps and Dolomites. Enjoy a plate of spaghetti or some apple strudel in the refreshment stop which is located slightly further on from the cable car station. Due to time constraints and unsettled conditions I took the cable car back down for 10 euro. If you still have the energy take advantage of the many paths on the summit, Monte Baldo really is a very special place to be.
