“The best hotel in Malcesine at this price!”
Reviewed 30 July 2012

This hotel is a gem! I dare anyone to find this quality in Malcesine during summer time at these prices. We sure are glad not to have paid attention to some of the not so good reviewers who obviously do not read their contracts when the buy.
The hotel staff are very efficient, methodical and always willing to answer questions give directions and help in any way possible.
The room we had (we paid the premium for lake view!) was absolutely spotless clean every day, with a breathtaking view of Lake Garda. The hotel location is about 500 meters from the very centre of the town of Malcesine and similarly very close to the funicular station for a ride to the top of Monte Baldo which should not be missed. Make sure to go on a clear day. The hotel entrance is about 50 steps up a slowly rising walkway from the main road and (unless you are dead and do not know it) an easy walk even for me at 67 and xxx pounds!
The hotel swimming pool and all of the public areas are absolutely spotless. Additionally the hotel also offers a great dry sauna, a Turkish steam sauna, a hot pool and a tanning bed, all free for the use of the clients! Also free is a guided hiking tour of the several trails three days a week for those who are interested in some good work out. We hiked down from the intermediate funicular station (about 1.5 hours) which is very steep and should not be done in high heels or flip flops as we saw some !@iots do and get hurt. The walkways and trails are well marked giving direction and around every corner a view to die for. By the way, do not forget to have a light weight jacket for the chance that the top of Monte Baldo is in a bad mood and starts pouring rain just like that. If it does go hide in the restaurant and have another coffee or a piece of that wonderful apple cake they serve.
The hotel rooms are adequate in size with an office desk, "spot on" wireless internet also free and air conditioning that works and is quiet. Parking is covered and protected from the hot sun and it is also free of charge. In Italy parking is at a premium so this was great.
We asked if the hotel had a restaurant and they said no, and offered advice on several restaurants nearby. For a quick meal the hotel serves some excellent sandwiches, large salads and small pasta meals for lunch with cold -cold beer with prices that are lower than any of the restaurants near by.
We will certainly be back. You get what you pay for and in this case we received much more that we expected. Grazie, molto grazie. Thanks a Canadian bunch.

Room Tip: Make sure to pay the few extra euros for lake view. The rooms are on the hot sunny side but worth th...

We 3 adults stayed 2 nights at this Hotel in July wilst touring Italy. The Hotel is well located and has parking but we found the staff very unfriendly and disinterested. The triple room was actually a double with a fold-up bed which was hardly suitable for an adult. For 3 adults we found the room very cramped and the shower was more of a balancing act ! Breakfast, pool location and surrounds were good with fantastic views across the lake. If ouly the staff were more attentive, friendly and caring it would be a great place - i.e. when we asked for ice for aour drinks we were give a curt "there is none "!

Just returned from 11 glorious nights staying in this fantastic hotel. The views of the lake and mountains, infinity pool, rooms, restaurant area, seating area, etc ... in fact everything about this hotel was fantastic. The cleanliness of the hotel is second to none. No complaints at all, will definately return.

Me, my wife and 2 kids stayed here for my brothers wedding and were not disappointed. We had a last minute flight cancellation to contend with so decided to try and get out a day earlier. Gloria couldn't have been more helpful she rearranged our booking straight away and changed our transfers from the airport. She also kept me updated on any flight problems for the rest of the wedding party.

The room was pretty basic but it was clean and was cleaned every day during our stay

The pool area was perfect and gives amazing views over the lake and of the castle

The breakfast was nice and what you would expect of a continental breakfast with plenty of cereals, fruit, cold meats, cheeses and also scrambled eggs

Malcesine itself is a great little place with some nice bars and restaurants serving some brilliant food. My kids couldn't get enough of the local ice cream!!

Whilst in Malcesine we went up to Monte Baldo in the cable cars which gave some brilliant views of the lake and mountains.
We also took a boat out for the afternoon which are available to hire and even my son got the chance to drive it

My brothers wedding at the castle was perfect and we enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Gutted to be back home although we would love to go back at some point and would return to the Hotel Internazionale

I spent two weeks in Malcesine at the end of July. The town itself with a breathtaking view to the lake Garda surrounded by majestic mountains is definitely worth a visit. I was travelling solo but got a small twin room with very little space where to put your things. Also, there was no fridge. Air conditioning was a plus. I was annoyed over the fact that there were two adjacent rooms with a door in between, so that if the residents in the next room were smoking, snoring or a baby crying, whatever, it was like they were sharing a room with me, as there was no proper wall. The room was reasonably clean and on second floor facing the mountains but there was another building quite near, so the balcony wasn't of much use. Also, it seemed the kitchen was right below, so vans bringing stuff to the restaurant made a noise every now and then. The bathroom/shower was OK but I've never seen such a weird hairdryer before. The bed was too hard for my back and the pillows were terrible! The restaurant/breakfast room had a nice view to the lake. The breakfast was OK, but during the second week it really made you wish there was a bit more variation in the choice. Coffee was excellent. The staff seemed to be pretty tired. I had an unfortunate experience the very first morning as the waitress splashed orange juice all over my white linen skirt. With juice dripping down the hem to my shoes, I stood like paralyzed unable to even sigh, and she just said: no problem, and didn't even make a gesture to help me in any way whatever. She did however then agree to have my skirt washed. And this happened. But after that she always walked past me with her nose high up in the air like a queen, whose feelings had been hurt. And I had even thanked her for the arrangement! Incredible. - The real gem of this hotel was the fantastic pool facing the lake! I simply loved it.

Room Tip: A room with the lake view in the main building is best.

It is hard to decide whether or not this is a good or a bad place to stay. Our feelings on it were so well split. On the plus side the room was clean and well maintained, the pool area was relaxing and had a great view out over the lake. On the negative side the street up to the hotel was not that well lit at night and as the surface was part cobble, part concrete and also quite steep it would not perhaps be the best place for for anyone with an aversion to slopes to stay.
The staff were accomdating enough but overall lacked any empathy with their guests. Breakfast if you stuck to the cold plate was fine but the scrambled eggs somehow always managed to on the brown side of perfect. Our room was at the back which may be for the best as it did mean the room was a little cooler but the view was quite depressing being the reae end of another hotel and the road into the car park.
Overall rating it was a place to sleep not a place to enjoy but as a base for staying in Malcesine it was fine, no more no less.I wish that I could be more enthusiastic about it because Malcesine is such a wonderful old town with so many great places to eat and sit out in the sun but that is the best we can give it.

Room Tip: Try for a room at the front facing the lake
