“Best hotel I'm malcesine!”
Reviewed 24 May 2013 via mobile

Stayed at primaluna from 1-6th may 2013 for our wedding at the castle on 4th may. The owners claudia and Antonio could not have done more for us! The hotel is spotless, food amazing and very reasonable. We stayed in a junior suite which has gorgeous views of the lake and very spacious. We had our wedding meal at primaluna as well and again the staff at primaluna could not have been more welcoming and accommodating! The food and wine amazing, all our guests commented on how good it was. Overall we had the most amazing time, would like to thank the staff at primaluna for making our stay so perfect! We will be returning for out first year anniversary!

We Stayed in the Junior Suite in July 2013, the hotel Is a gentle 5 minutes walk from the centre of Malcesine along the lake's coast. Our room was a decent size and was open plan. The room has a very quirky sense of style, it also comes without a bath and just a shower (but it is a very good shower that more than makes up for that) minibar stocked daily (reasonable prices) and a bed that was a little firm for our liking.

We mainly chose this hotel as it seemed to be one of the few we could find that was close to the centre, had lakeside views and also a pool and it has to be said the view from the room was phenominal.

The hotel has an onsite restaurant that you can eat in at the evening for a very good price for the quality of the food, think it was about 15 euro each and for this you got a glass of prosecco, pre starter from a buffet then starter, main and dessert prepared to order. This was in all honesty probably the best meal we had all week (and without a doubt the best tiramisu i've had in my whole life). If we come back (and we probably will) we'll look at staying half board instead of B&B.

Breakfasts are a selection of cheeses, continental meats and breads and your choice of eggs cooked to order - the scrambled were so good nothing else was tried.

The only slight downside I can think of is the whole place is (purposely) dark, i you come in out of the bright sun you can't see a thing until your eyes adjust!.

Unusual very modern hotel right at the lake. Parking lot easily accesible from the road, but easy to miss since there was no big sign and there –– is no hotel, since the lot is actually on top of the hotel and you go down by elevator or via stairs, very interesting and cool. The decor is very modern, may not be for everybody with lots of washed concrete but we really enjoyed it. Very helpful and friendly front desk staff, great breakfast and a very good restaurant. Beautiful outdoors and pool area (although it was too cold to use it when we were there in May). Our room was rather large but had no view at all, there was a window but it was looking at another wall, a little peculiar. I called it 'the grotto' ;) but since we're not sun-bathers we still enjoyed it a lot, it was certainly very private. Gorgeous very modern bathroom but you have to be a little bit of an exhibitionist with whoever you share a room with – lots of glass and no door. So if you're not going with your better half, be warned ;) Intenet in rooms accessible via cable, there was WiFi but our room had no reception. They went out of their way to provide us with an ethernet cable that we had forgotten though. The lakeside is accessible right from the hotel's beautiful outdoor area; stunning views of the lake and the castle, and the center of the little town of Malcesine is only a short walk away. Great location, however, rather expensive given it is not in a big city – I suppose that's the region. We stayed here for a wedding, so if we had been on our own I would have picked something with a more moderate price, it wasn't fancy enough to be worth that for me, but that may just be me. It certainly was a memorable stay in a very modern and unusual hotel.

Room Tip: If you want views of the lake, choose a balcony room. If you like your privacy, the 'grotto'...

We had out wedding in Malcensine (which was, awesome! Perfect! any more words I can use here?). Anyway turns out a lot of our friends stayed here as well due to our wedding (didn't get any discount on anything tho :( )

Anyhow, back to the hotel. Well situated right next to the lake. One of my friends came from the highway and didn't enjoy that very much, so I pointed them to go into town via the lake side exit, absorb the lake while going into the town instead of walking along that scary highway (you just have to exit thru the basement instead of the main exit, keep that in mind please if you do go).

Room is good for family or couple only to be honest. Not going to spoil the surprise but if you don't want to see too much of your mate, you might want to stay away from this one. For others, this is awesome. Very nice design btw, the owner is a designer I think.

When you pick your room don't go for the cheapest one. I did, and didn't turn out so great. Just remember for a bit more money you get to look at the lake all day and have access to the lake in 10 (okie maybe 20) steps which is awesome. The cheapest room involved some no view room on the highway side, consider yourself warned.

Please do NOT miss the breakfast. It is the best I've had. With a machine that can make all kinds of drinks, you might want to just stay there for 2 whole hours. Imagine I didn't miss my breakfast after my wedding day; it's that good.

And the tub and the pool....just save some time for that as well.

Restaurant food was awesome (not a lot more expensive than in town, and it's good). Don't miss the salad bar...they have mussels and seafood soup (just give it a try it's not expensive). Only problem is it close early so ask the friendly receptionist for reservation. She's so nice that she helped out with all kind of problems with my friends (you know when you have a wedding there you have guests from out of town and that means a lot of different problem and she actually did everything she can! One brownies points for her).

No pictures from me this time as I don't want to spoil the joy. Just go and relax.

Room Tip: Just don't pick the cheapest one. Pick something with a view.

The hotel was in a splendid location, right on the lake. We booked late and could only get a basic room with no balcony. As it was right on the water and the views were stunning, I think you'd have the nicest time booking a room with a view. The hotel staff throughout were lovely and helpful and were eager to advise on things to do and see. The small village was the perfect size for a day and we'd advise anyone to go on the cable car to Monte Baldo if they were staying longer as it is only a short walk away and the views are amazing. They served a wonderful breakfast (with donuts!). We would go back and spend a bit more for a room with a balcony.

We recently had our honeymoon at the Prima Luna through Inghams and it was excellent! The hotel is in the perfect location to easily walk into town, it has a little pebble beach right in front of the hotel with sun loungers which can be used. The rooms were great, if a little post-modern in decor and the food was brilliant. In fact the food was too good - sometimes we were eating way too much and regretting it! Upon arrival we had red and white bed linen with heart patterned pillows and a cheerful greeting from staff. They were very helpful in reception and the dining room was always accomodating if you were early out or late back from a trip. We loved the fact there was a hot tub with views out over the lakes/mountains - the only draw back being that children were allowed to get in there - which isn't overly romantic when they jump in straight after you switch it on! Malcesine had plenty to see and do ad the location is great for visiting Venice and Verona! We definitely recommend it!

Room Tip: lake view!

Very mixed impression of this hotel.
Good. Great location near a beach and very near to the lovely town of Malcesine. All possibilities for recreation and sports. Wonderful pool and sunbathing area with a beautiful lake view A very friendly lady at the front desk will gladly help resolve all possible questions. Wi-fi was free and worked well. A very good breakfast – a big variety of products to choose from, and additionally you can order eggs cooked any way you like – for free. There is a snack-bar with very tasty pasta and pizza, working during a day, and evening restaurant with good food. The rooms have everything for a sufficient comfort, amazing lake view from the balconies or terrace. . In general we liked the unusual avant-garde style of public areas. This style of incomplete construction or some devastation and maybe someone is fond of it and feels comfortable in that environment, as for us, we like a contemporary exhibitions and installations and did not feel the common areas interior repulsive , it was even in something fresh and cool, horrible but beautiful.
About bad. We liked everything except the interior of our superior room – they need to do something with it really. It's cool if only to come for a tour - not to live here. To say it was ugly – to say nothing, you need to see. Avant-garde trash style of this room reduced to absurdity. It was like a gloomy and depressing chamber with a deliberately scratched roughly plastered walls - painted in ugly dirty colour, minimalist interior, concrete walls toilet. We had the feeling that during the construction phase the owners decided not to spend money on a room finishing – decided it cheap and outside the box, but at least like the best, it turned horrible. Black iron piece over the bed, terrible mat covering the air conditioner, the pieces of pressed sawdust depicting desks on both sides of the window - - why two? - and small chairs on which you do not want to sit down when some things will be hanging on it. There was no normal curtains - only small short pieces of white fabric covered half of the window, holding on sticks, inserted in the middle of the window that constantly fall off. It covered nothing. Room will look decent until you lay and hang your things because the wardrobe has an open design, all things lie open and create the appearance of untidiness and clutter in the room. Being in this ugly room can get depressed. The advantages of the superior room - located on the upper floor, large shower with modern fittings, a set of tea, free water and beach towels. But I never will stop another time in this room, it is really depressing. We were happy that lived in this room only one night and leaved next morning.
On the other hand I liked a classic standard room (our girlfriend had such) on the first floor. It was much more attractive, it had roughly painted walls, one in a brick color another is yellow (more attractive colors then in our room), this room is really better looking and much more cozy. It has a normal big thick curtains and comfortable couch instead of stupid transparent chairs that are in superior room. Normal bathroom without concrete walls. Location on the ground floor does not make a lake view worse, and this room has access to a green lawn with deck chairs for sunbathing.
The hotel in general is very good, but it is pretty expensive to pay for such depressive superior room - so don’t take such, and you will enjoy this hotel more than we did. I’d not hesitate to return because everything else was perfect..
So will you like a hotel or not - you will not remain indifferent, you will be intrigued, and you will remember it.
As for town of Malcesine - it is a must in Garda lake area. Much has been written about the attractions of the city, I will not repeat, except to say that this city has its own spirit and attractive atmosphere, despite the large number of tourists crowding the streets. The city to which it is pleasant to wander slowly, oblivious of time, and a walk on the mountain of Monte Baldo in a nice clear day - it's a miracle.
