Stayed for 10 days at the Astoria with Thomas Cook. We chose this hotel because of its location and lovely garden and were not disappointed. The room we had at the rear of the hotel overlooked the lovely garden, olive groves and mountains. It was a spacious room with very good facilities and spotlessly clean as was all the hotel. The hotel was quiet and comfortable with a modern glass lounge at the front with a lovely dining room overlooking the lake. The food was well presented and the Italian dishes especially good. The breakfast was just continental but plenty of choices. The late time of our arrival meant we missed our evening meal on the first night also on the day trip to Venice we missed our evening meal but they provided a light buffet and this is our only complaint as we were starving but the buffet was small and lacked imagination. All the staff were very helpful and this family worked really hard to make your stay a happy one. If you like sun on the balcony in the morning choose a room at the back of the hotel or sun in the afternoon choose the front. The walk into Malcesine is flat and easy but the bus stops just outside the hotel, Just a note : It was a pity we had to pay cash for our tourist tax and bar bill at the end of the week as cards were not accepted. This is a good 3 star hotel and we would definitely visit again.

I stayed in this hotel for four days and were very happy with the choice.
The staff is very friendly, even if not everyone speaks english they really try to help you.
The room was nice, simple but clean, with a confortable bed and a balcony looking over the lake.
From the hotel you just have to cross the small road to be by the lake.
At the back of the hotel there is a big garden with a large swimming pool, it is the perfect place to relax.
The hotel also lent us some bikes which was great to go to the center.
The breakfast was nice.

Room Tip: lake side if you want the view and swimming pool side for a more quiet time.

I stayed in Hotel Astoria for one week. The hotel was nice and had beautiful surroundings and views. Hotel is very clean and staff were helpful. Disappointed with breakfast buffet, as not a very good selection. Hotel noisy at night

My husband and I have just returned from Hotel Astoria and we have had the most wonderful stay here. Where do I start, there isn't anything really to fault. The hotel staff work tirelessly to make sure your are comfortable, nothing is too much trouble, everywhere is spotless. Daniel, Valentino and Renata seemed to be everywhere, they served in the restaurant, served in the bar and watched reception at times, they never stopped. Helena and her family were very hospitable and made sure our stay was perfect. Breakfast was continental and had a good selection of everything, the scrambled eggs were particularly lush. Evening meal was a four course affair and although each course was just the right amount you never went away feeling less than full. The meals were beautiful. The hotel itself is ideally situated opposite the lake on the road side, we enjoyed a 30 to 40 minute walk every day to and from Malcesine which is a beautiful village, I already have my sights set on returning to renew our wedding vows for our 20th anniversary at the castle in the village. The only thing that could have been a problem if I was being honest, on our first night, we were asked if another couple could join us at our dining table, the table was then allocated to us for the week, breakfast and dinner as were the other couple, as it turned out, we got on like an house on fire and we will stay friends for a very long time. However I could see how some couples might find this intrusive. We met a lot of lovely people and I think that is testament to the ambiance the owners have created it is a very friendly well run hotel and I would recommend anyone trying it.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 112 on the first level with a huge balcony and the sun was on the balcony from 2pm for the rest of the day, the lake view was amazing and I would recommend asking for the Lake view every time.
