City of Art Venice Lloyd

We booked a 3* hotel „City of Art Venice Lloyd“. Worst thing that happened, we were redirected to other hotel (just in front) due to construction, as we were told. We were offered a small dark room with twin beds and one extra. Bedding was with holes. Ceiling and walls needs repainting.
Room was equipped with A/C, but it was not working on April.
Location is just perfect for travelers, who look for a short stay durnig their trip. Hotel is located just near a big train station Venezia Mestre (approx. 300 m.), but place is very noisy, actually. Very poor noise isolation in the room. Every hotel guest passing by with a luggage is heard very clearly in your room as well as cars on the street.
Breakfast was very poor, noticed only slices of ham and kind of coffee machine.
It is not a 3* and not equal to our selected hotel. Offered hotel could be used only for one-two night stay, but not suitable for longer stay and especially if your expectations are huge.

We were only staying in Venice for one night, so we decided to go cheap. The proximity to the Mestre train station was also a draw, because we had a train to catch. This is where the positives end.

We arrived at the Mestre station at 10 am. We walked over to Lloyd, only to find that the front door was locked. We were dumbfounded. We walked around back to the open kitchen door, and were told by kitchen staff that reception didn't open until 3 pm! I know hotels are done differently in the United States, but this was insanity. How can reception not even be open until 3? She told us we could store our luggage across the street at another hotel.

The receptionist at the other hotel charged us a euro per bag for luggage storage. We didn't have any other options, so we grudgingly paid and locked up our bags behind the curtained luggage area (with our own locks).

After enjoying a wonderful day in Venice, we came back and grabbed our luggage. We were charged the typical Italian tourist tax, and went up to our room. It was dinky - enough room for two twin beds and a small desk. There was also a small room on the side that was just barely big enough for the twin bed inside. It turned out that this room was like an oven, as it had no windows or air circulation.

The room was the dirtiest I have every stayed in. I walked across the room barefoot and had a layer of dust coated on my feet. The comforters felt grungy, and the bathroom had 6 spiders on the ceiling. My shower was acceptable, and I did manage to fall asleep quickly despite the intense heat in the room (probably because of my fatigue from walking around all of Venice that day).

We were happy to leave this place, and happy that we had not booked it for longer than a night. I would never again stay here, and I would advise anyone considering it to pay an extra $20 per night to stay somewhere fit for human habitation. Don't ruin your travels with this sad excuse for a hotel.

Room Tip: Don't pick any room.

This hotel is the worst I have stayed in Europe! The location is the best thing about it, very near train station and only 10 mins from Venice. Apart from that, the room was tiny! Claustrophobic almost. No cupboards, wardrobe to hang up your clothes. Living out a suitcase for a week. Tiny shower room. Very little view.

Access to the hotel is completely inadequate! There were people arriving to check-in and the hotel was locked, etc. The concierge is only there part of the day. There is no-one at the hotel to let you in later in the evening and you have to keep going across the road to a different hotel and asking someone to open up the hotel to get in. They don't give you keys or swipe card to access hotel!! The whole affair is a nuisance, especially if you are staying there a few days.

At both hotels, you felt as if you were disturbing the attendants. It seemed to be a hassle and not very friendly. Overall disappointing.

Wifi is not free as stated. You only get 30 mins maximum in the hotel foyer, then have to pay.

It boasts a 24hr bar which is nonsense! You again have to go across to the other hotel to get a drink which would be in the foyer of that hotel and is an excuse for a bar.

Generally this hotel is very similar with a ibis hotel in Europe. The room is clean , with some basics for travellers, including a small LCD TV, a Safe and a hair dryer. You even can find a electricity adaptor for north American plugs. The room has a small washroom with a toilet and a shower. Both the room and washroom are very small to north American standard, the shower is very small and may not be able to fit a big guy although the hot water has not been a problem for us. The AC is effective for us to sleep in hot Venice.
I probably like to mention the breakfast may be the best during my Italy trip. The fresh roasted bread with ham, yogurt, juice etc can provide enough energy for your visit. Don't repeat this hotel is very close to No. 6 bus stop, which can bring you to Venice every 10 mins.

There are two drawbacks for this hotel:
You can only check in after 3:00pm although you can leave your language in their partner hotel on other side of the street for 1 euro a bag. Also the hotel staff especially the gentman are not very friendly and helpful.

£55 a night you get what you pay for would say a like a cheaper premier inn.

Easy check in, clean room, big bathroom, power shower, fresh towels daily.

Breakfast room clean and modern.

Perfect for somewhere to rest your head.

Three pizza places on the same street 5-10 min walk. Area is for locals only really.

But location is great as has train station 5 min walk which takes you straight to venice

Hard to find supermarket so take money as whole area very pricey.

Great hotel for the price, location to Venice

Room Tip: Ask for a double bed as lots of rooms just have singles. We pushed beds together

This was the worst accommodation we stayed in when we were traveling through Europe for three weeks. The rooms were tiny, our shower had extensive mold all on the ceiling, the shower head holster was broken so we had to hold it in our hand, there was no hot water on the first night, excessive noise from other guests closing doors, talking etc. it could all be heard like they were in the room with you, there was a brown stain on our cover and also no wifi in the room, only in the lounge where there was no air conditioning and you had to pay for it. To top it all off breakfast was terrible, the only thing we felt safe to eat was the packaged toasts and jams, and the woman was incredibly rude about where we should sit. Even though it is close to the Venice train station there are far better places that will get you better value for money, and a comfortable night sleep!

My stay in the hotel was fine, considering the fact that I left early in the morning and only came back in the evening to take a shower and go to bed. While the room was ok, for sure I would not rate it a 4* hotel. The room was tiny, but clean, I didn't try the AC since it was still chilly during the nights so I used to blankets. You have a TV in the room and as some other travelers commented there was indeed no drawer, but instead, you had some hangers to use for your clothes and a small storage space. The breakfast was good, you had spreadable cheese, ham, butter, different types of jam, croissants, yogurt, milk & cereal, some juices & coffee & tea. I wasn't bothered at all by the traffic (and I am a light sleeper), you just close the window and you don't hear much anymore. The train station is 2 minutes away from the hotel, it was more convenient for me to take the train instead of the bus, since you have one going to Santa Lucia every 5-10 minutes. The only downside was the check-in time (between 3pm - 6:30pm) and that the hotel doors are closed after 11 pm (i wasn't bothered too much by the last one since Venice is pretty "dead" in the evening so I was already back to the hotel before 11pm).

All in all the hotel was ok, it was exactly what I've expected, the bed comfortable, the room & bathroom clean. If I would come back to Venice and i would be on a budget I would stay here again.
