“Wouldn't recomend”
Reviewed 11 July 2011

Beautiful villa but on arrival found we weren't staying in it - instead we were in a room across the road - very nice room but not really what we signed up for. Grounds lovely, outdoor breakfast on terrace a lovely settling, location wonderful, however spoiled by the slack, zero common sense, unprofessional attitude of the staff (our cleaner was lovely though). Definately don't go for half board - we didn't because I had already seen some online reviews about the food not being great but we ate there the first night and we have to agree with a previous trip advisor reviewer that the meal resembled what we would imagine is served in retirement homes, very old fashioned, uninteresting food - and to add insult to injury they charge 30 euro per person for it. Tried to charge our 3 year old son 30 euros too when we had said in advance he would only need a small bowl of pasta pomodoro. Still very much in love with Italy but avoid this place for sure.

Stayed first three nights of a nine day trip to Italy and the south of France. Half board with Cresta holidays. Lovely setting among pine trees, short walk to beach and nearest pub/cafe and supermarket. A car may be necessary to go further afield. Good food, good staff, a great time had by all.

Reviewed 29 September 2008

We travelled to the Tuscan Riviera in September, which we consider to be about the right time of year. It was pleasantly warm/hot. The hotel is beautiful – an old villa built at the turn of the century with Art Deco features. The staff are very helpful, their English is very good compared to our Italian (which is non- existent!!) Our room (room 9/10) was lovely. It is a family suite which consisted of 2 bedrooms (1 double (with a pull down single bed in a wardrobe) and 1 twin) and a bathroom the size of a double room! As there was only the two of us we had plenty of room! The rooms in the hotel do not have air-con but with all the windows open (8 in all) we managed to create a breeze. Beware the mozzies though, we were eaten alive! The hotel is located in a wealthy part of Tuscany and is visited mostly by Italians. We did, however, meet some lovely English people there and a good time was had by all. Hotel grounds are great, surrounded by pine trees which shade the hotel from the hot Tuscan sun. Lovely pool area, never had a problem acquiring a sun bed. Pool towels are available from Life guard (who never seemed to do much!) or hotel reception. There is no bar as such at the hotel. You can order drinks at reception and they go to their equivalent of a bar but we found the drinks to be very expensive - 4 euros for a small beer. The food at dinner is adequate – we ate there every night but many didn’t, preferring the food at Milanos just down the road (it did look good and we did have lunch there one day). Breakfast however is another matter. It is taken al fresco in the beautiful grounds and you can eat as much as you want. The croissants were to die for! The beach is wonderful and is about a ten minute walk. You can walk up and down the waterfront no problem, we did quite often. The sea is bordered by beach establishments where you have to pay for umbrellas sun beds etc if you want them. We arranged a hire car in England, picked it up at the airport and found it very useful (even just to go to the local hypermarket to get essentials - beer, water, soft drinks, spirits etc!) We would recommend hiring in England as once you are there it can be very expensive - beware!. Must do trips - Pietrasanta, Lucca and the mountain villages. We went to Florence by train which we think is the way to do it.

  • Liked — Building and grounds
  • Disliked — No air con in main hotel but we were advised of this prior to booking
