“An Oasis in Marsala”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 January 2011

Villa Favorita is a resort with a full range of services. Positioned in the middle of a fantastic Mediterranean garden with full range of palm trees, olives, oranges and lemon, with a spectacular view of the sea from the upper historical part of the building. Breakfast is superb with a huge selection of fresh food, personnel is always kind and helpful with their guests. Rooms are very nice and clean. Another option given for the stay is the bungalow. Although they are in need for maintenance, you can spend there the night without any particular inconvenience. The swimming pool is excellent and very well maintained. If you want a relaxing and quality stay in Marsala, while visiting the beautiful historical surroundings, don't look any further, Villa Favorita is your option.

We had booked one of the quirky bungalows, but when we arrived were shown to a room in the main building. When I questioned this, the moody receptionist man told us that there were no bungalows available. The room we were given was large, and comfortable. However, we were not able to use the pool area as they was a wedding on later that day (and assume this is also why we didn't get a bungalow). We ate at the hotel that night, and it was fantastic value for great food, with brilliant staff.

We booked a one night stay as the hotel is just 20 mins from Birgi /Trapani airport.
We walked through the gates, past the illuminated swimming pool, which led to the 'igloos' (more like telly tubby houses)and with the warm evening and the music playing from a wedding reception it was shear magic.
Although we were planning to move on, we loved it so much we stayed another night and after travelling around Sicily we booked our last night back at the same hotel.
Staff were really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a feast, dinner was the best we tasted on the island and when we asked if we could vacate the room in the evening we were told it was no problem at all. All in all, a superb hotel.

We have stayed at this hotel before and enjoyed it. On this occasion the restaurant was closed and one of us was unfortunate enough to be ill. This meant a late check out. The staff were, as always, very kind. The management however charged us for a full extra nights stay for 4 hours extra use of the room.
Correct in law no doubt, but very harsh we thought as the hotel was virtually empty.
I wrote but received no reply.
We go this way often but not to Villa Favorita again.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Villa Favorita as part of a cycling holiday. It was clear from the start that all the staff had been trained at Fawlty Towers and the chefs at MacDonalds. The words 'customer service' clearly don't translate into Italian. The restaurant was probably the worst I have experienced in 40 yrs of travel. It's worth eating there once if only to experience the inedible food and a manic headwaiter who takes rudeness and abuse to another level. The hotel sits in a squalid area of Marsala where you would be advised not to walk after darkness falls.....unless you enjoy being entertained by wild cats , overflowing rubbish bins and shuffling rats. As Marsala has no taxis, you will be forced to remain within the hotel after nightfall. We suggest you stock up from the local supermarket and have a picnic in your room. Anything to avoid that restaurant.

Having just returned from a lovely holiday in western sicily which started with 2 nights at the Villa Favorita, marsala. I have to say the hotel rooms are simply lovely and the pool too, breakfast in the garden just perfect.....BUT the hotel is seriously let down by the food in the restaurant (and there is no alternative locally so you have to go into town) It reminded me of school diners or food you would expect in an old folks home! Everything looked grey and overcooked.
I have read other reviews for this hotel and some recommended the restaurant (??) BUT I think the problem could be as mentioned in other reviews the fact that this hotel seems to host a wedding or function (even two on our second night) so all the catering staff are busy dealing with this.Their functions do look stunning, and maybe the food in restaurant can be.
To be honest I felt we, as hotel guests, were invisible to staff and the weddings are all they were interested in.Having said that I would recommend staying here (it is lovely, real comfy bed, lovely terrace overlooking main courtyard) but just eat out in the evening and be prepared to be ignored.
Marsala itself is not great for restaurants either, we found the best to be on the coast road by the archeological site Baglio dei Mille not that easy to find as it's at the end of the one way stretch and traffic in Marsala is awful.

  • Liked — Luxurious Room lovely breakfast. lovely pool.
  • Disliked — Hotel food evening meal only, lack of interest from staff except breakfast waiter who was nice
