Extremely beautiful scenaries, challenging course (but not too difficult), idyllic old club house, excellent service. The best golf experience I've ever had! What more can you hope for? Oh.. right.. a better score :)

A wonderfully hilly 18-holes golf course with breathtaking views, challenging holes, a continuous change of scenarios that will have you reach for shorter irons and safer woods. Playing t safe is mandatory, but the pleasure of playing this grand old course is unequalled. ONly a few minutes from the peerless Grand Hotel Villa d'Este, where a good golfer must stay to enjoy the finer things of life.

Played the course in August this year (2012), and as usual on our summer holiday i hired clubs and a trolley, as well as buying a few more balls having read previous reviews.

The course is not overly long, but it is tight and does demand accuracy off the tee. Having said that it isn't particularly scary, and I didn't loose any balls in the end. As you would expect with Italy the views are outstanding, and the course was in excellent condition, with both fairways and greens particularly good.

If you've been to the Italian Lakes, you'll know that they are in fairly mountainous surroundings, and in August the daytime temperatures are in the 30's. Hence, consider a buggy rather than a trolley! I have Roger to thank for joining me on the ninth tee and letting me share his buggy for the back nine.

We played nine holes in the morning and nine in the afternoon, with a leisurely lunch in between. Very civilised, and the food was superb. The staff in the restaurant and the shop couldn't do more to make your stay and round at the club more enjoyable, and I would play again at the drop of a hat.

All in all a beautiful course, a fabulous clubhouse, excellent staff, and loads of families at the course. It felt relaxed and inclusive, and I loved it. Even my score was OK, which capped off a near perfect day of golf.

stick to smaller bars and restaurants, if you like the exclusive feel of 'clubs' then you'll love it but if its casual drinking or people watching then i wouldnt bother
