“Perfect choice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2012

We stayed only 1 night, but it was perfect. The owner was very helpful, helped us to organize our trip to Venice (advised free parking in Mestre, provided tickets for the bus to Venice, etc....)
THis is an excellent hotel mainly for people traveling by car.

This is a fine B&B in Mestre, you can reach Venice in about 45 min by bus. Free wifi and easy parking are a good bonus. Continental breakfast is fine: cereals, juice, cornetti.

Oscar, the owner, is very fond of the States, you can see that from the US flag next to the Italian one on the facade and lots of pictures and memorabilia all over the place.

You can also eat at the adjacent restaurant, which boasts paella (nothing to write home about) and a variety of salads and meat cuts. Quite a few beers to choose from, while the wines are better left alone. Pizzas are OK.

The staff was very friendly, the hotel is very neat and clean. The steak house in the hotel is great. I had the best buffalo mozzarella pizza in my life there. The place itself is in a quiet neighborhood close to the autoroute.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2010

We stayed here for one night because anywhere closer to venice was either too expensive or fully booked. We arrived on a Sunday morning in Venice airport and got a bus to Mestre, which stopped outside the train station. I rang Oscar to find out how to get to the B&B because the people in the tourist office were really unhelpful, and he told me not to worry he would come and pick us up, which took the stress of trying to find the place away. He showed us around his restaurant, gave us bus information and bus tickets for exploring Venice and his personal cell number in case we had any problems throughout our stay.
Our room was very clean. The bed was King size. The TV was tiny but that didn't matter to us. The shower is small but is average for what you get in Italian B&B's. The walls are not soundproof but again this didn't hinder our sleep because it's very quiet during the night. Do close the window when you arrive though because I got bitten by mosquito's that got in.
The breakfast is pretty standard fare, nothing to get excited about. Yogurt, fruit, bread roll, jams and a cereal. However the pizza from Oscar's restaurant is so delicious, he also gave us free bread to taste, different beers and the most delicious coconut ice-cream dessert I've ever tasted. The menu is not in English but Oscar is more than helpful when it comes to translating.
The reason we did not give this place five stars is because it is a bit of a distance from Venice, which is hindered if you're travelling on a Sunday due to less frequent buses and because there's not really much to do in the immediate vicinity. During the week I imagine it would be fine. You have to get the bus 11 from right outside the door to the train station and then get the bus 2 or train into Venice. If you are lucky not to have to wait for buses this journey takes less than half an hour. Our WiFi did not work in our room either.
