The hotel was great with a huge buffet breakfast each day! The front desk is extremely helpful, they speak english too...the hotel is outside Venice but away from all the tourists. Take a cab to the hotel, 50 Euros, just outside the airport. Mestre is nice and quiet, it's across from the train station and bus drop off. .It's a safe area..from the hotel take a right and then the next right for a few restaurants and shops. We ate at Al Piron d'Oro, very good food, not just pastas.(which you get a bit sick of) Take a bus into Venice (not a waterbus) you can get an all day pass, or 2 day etc. it pays off as it works for the waterbuses (valporettas too) The valporettas are very easy to get around once in Venice but be prepared, they can be very crowded!
To get to the ship, take a land taxi, ask the hotel and the taxi takes you right up to the ship, about 30 Euros for the cab, well worth it. After your ship docks to go home, you can take a land taxi again to the airport, about 50 Euros for the whole cab. Some people waited for the valporetta and there was a big line-up and you had to lug your luggage on and off the boat. I would definitely stay at this hotel again!
