This hotel is located right across the street from the Mestre train station on the corner. Our floor was being renovated, but our room was luckily not affected. We booked a suite with a divider door between the 2 rooms. There was only 1 TV set to share. We were overcharged for one bed we booked earlier. Remember to bring your printed email/confirmation from home. The suite was modern and clean. Breakfast had plenty of fruit to choose from. The internet was not working in the lobby. We bought tickets from the train station to take us into Venice (San Marco Square) - 2 euros per person for the return trips. The ride is only a few minutes long. The hotel is a great alternative if you don't want to pay the expensive hotel rates of staying in Venice.

Just stayed in the Best Western Bologna hotel for 3 nights. Couldnt find fault even though they were carrying out renovations - they were not intrusive at all. Great location especially for Ryanair flights as they drop you across the road from the hotel. Very comfortable room - huge bathroom. Unbelievable buffet breakfast, had everything for everybody from the health conscious to the likes of me. 10 minutes into Venice on the bus which is covered by the Vaporetto water bus tickets.

When I read a couple of write ups and looked at the previous room photos, I didn't expect much except decent service with decent rooms.

Well if you have travelled in Europe enough, you know what rooms can be like! The rooms were not anything like the photos... they were much better, modern, great wirelessinternet, large and spacious bathroom and great beds. The rooms is much larger than most rooms in Europe...the renovations had just been completed and we had a new room. One individual wrote about plain rooms but mentioned renovations... if he had arrived a bit later he would have found really nice rooms and dining area on the main floor. This is nothing like an American Best Western... it's much better. The food in the dining room was most tasty and really well prepared / presented. Better than many local restaurants.

Staff are friendly and courteous. Location: just great, you avoid the ridiculous prices in Venice by staying at the Bologna, directly across the first train station outside of Venice. A one Euro ten minute ride from Venice... very easy to use and and no worries.

If you have a room in Venice, you'll have to drag your bags across cobble streets and with the twisty maze that is Venice will have fun finding your hotel. Skip that and go to the Bologna where the taxi drops you at the door after a 20 minute ride from the Airport when there is no traffic. Taxi should cost you about 35 Euros.

If the taxi wants to charge for extra bags,, he can only charge for large bags only and one Euro for each bag. It's written in the back of the front seat. This is a place worth recommending.

Excellent value for money if you can get a deal (for example 3 nights for the price of 2). We stayed in a superior triple room, recently renovated, very good standard of furnishings in bedroom and bathroom, generous toiletries but no tea/coffee making facilities. Room was clean and comfortable with little exterior noise.

Staff were friendly and the breakfast offered a wide, tempting choice. Only downside was food in the evening as the restaurant was shut during August . Little choice in the area to eat other than 3 Chinese restaurants and a McDonalds so best to eat in Venice, only a 10 minute train ride away.

Mestre is a good choice when visit Venice. I was travelling by car and stay out from Venice was the best option.

The Best Western Bologna is located 30 meters from the bus/train station to Venice (10 min to arrive at Venice).

The hotel is a average hotel with nothing special. When I stayed at the hotel my floor was under refurbishiment but I didn't hear any noise.

The room is very spacious and the bathroom is modern.

Don't expect luxury. Just a average hotel at a excelent location on Mestre.

We stayed in Mestre about seven years ago at the Hotel Plaza. When I called to book the same hotel for this trip, their rate was extremely high. Hotel Bologna rate was much lower and much nicer. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend this wonderful hotel to all of our family and friends. The rooms were the best out of all the hotels we stayed at in Europe. We needed a room for two adults and two older teens. The room had two rooms four beds and a huge very modern bathroom. WE were so happy to be greeted by a friendly, helpful staff. Everything was wonderful, even the breakfast was plentiful and included in our very low rate. A new elevator was ready to open only a few days after our departure. The housekeeping staff was very friendly, too. What a great experience. Very modern-just like all the pictures-no misleading photos here and the rooms are vey roomie for Europe hotel rooms. Directly across from the trrain station- just a hop into Venice- Very safe and convenient to Venice- we will stay here again. Do yourself a favor and treat youself to this wonderful hotel ! Took a taxi to the port for our cruise, not expensive.

Great location right in front of the station, yet no noise from the traffic.
Mestre seems like some kind of industrial town, and there are lots of Asians living around the train station area. Relatively inexpensive chinese food can be found around the corner (left of the lobby entrance) of the hotel. Inexpensive when compared to that in Venice island itself!!
Ask for the south wing which is newly renovated, and with big and spacious rooms with modern decor. Kudos to the designer for putting a speaker in the bathroom!
This hotel even managed to please my fussy and critical middle-aged mother!
Only drawback was the double set of doors at the lobby. You'll know when you try going through them with all your luggage.
