“Enjoyable for the price, but NOT 4 star”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

My partner and I stayed in the hotel for three nights in order to visit Venice.

From the outside, the hotel is less than impressive, and is situated on a main road, in Mestre. The hotel is definitely not a 4 star hotel. The décor in the rooms and the general facilities are basic and gloomy. We literally used the hotel as a base, and spent our days travelling around Venice. I can't imagine ever wanting to stay in the hotel rooms for any length of time, apart from to sleep.

Breakfast
Breakfast was the best feature of the hotel with a good selection and a nice range of continental foods. There are pastries and cereals, toast, juices, meats and more. It is better to get down at the beginning of the breakfast period, so as to get the best selection.

Rooms
We stayed in a room overlooking the carpark which was quieter than looking out onto the main road. Make sure to ask for a non-smoking room. Our room was always clean and tidied during the day. The décor is dark and basic so would not recommend staying in there for anything over than sleeping.

Location
I personally don't like Mestre town, but it does have all local amenities. The location of the hotel is near to the bus that takes you to Venice, and the bus takes around 15 mins so good if you don't want to stay in Venice. It is about 10 mins from Mestre train station but took us 1 hour to go by coach to the airport.

Staff
The staff are friendly and helpful and made our stay more enjoyable as they often helped us with our travelling questions and giving us information about Venice.

Facilities
Bar is never open and can't see any chance for any other food than breakfast. There was wifi which worked well for me. The bathrooms are good and clean.

OVERALL: Good hotel on a budget but very basic and not a 4 star hotel. Staff friendly and breakfast good.

Room Tip: Non - smoking and a room not overlooking main road.

very poor breakfast cold commercial pastry, coffee from dispenser taste awful.
very poor WiFi connection (not usable for skype or youtube), we had to buy a 3G card instead.
No kettle, or possibility to get a tea/coffee at the bar.

We had a 5 year old child, for whom we expected to have a baby cot or an extra bed. We were told to had to pay for a room upgrade, otherwise, 5 yrs old expected to sleep with their parent in the small double bed (probably 140cm). Even though the maximum room capacity was said to be 2 adults + 2 childrent or 2 infants.
1st night we were apologetically told they had no spare bed, the second day we were asked pay extra to something all other hotel provided for the same booking request.

I think the management in this hotel don't really understand the importance of customer service, no do they care about repeat business.

Room Tip: read all reviews before choosing this hotel, don't count on wifi connection.

How this is 4 star is beyond me. Bar NEVER open, only food is a cold breakfast. OK fixtures and fittings very good, so....?
Why do tour companies use this, when down in the square at the end of the People-mover are good hotels at abou £25 more ??

Room Tip: Don't, go somewhere else.

We stayed for 2 nights in July, prior to a cruise on Ventura. The hotel is adequate but the rooms are not welcoming - very dark and basic. My main problem was the very hard bed which was the equivalent to sleeping on a shelf! Needless to say, I was not pleased to board the ship. The breakfast was very limited in choice.

Stayed here prior to cruising on P & O Ventura in July 2014. Spotlessly clean. Polite helpful staff. A good meeting place for pre-cruisers. Agree with many of the comments made about it being a suitable stop over. We took the local very crowded bus from the airport - a mistake as we missed the stop nearest this hotel. Driver didn't understand our request for the hotel stop and we ended up pulling heavy cases to a taxi point!

Very clean! The rooms are very basic and perhaps a little dated but fine for just a city break as you don't spend much time in your room anyway.
Breakfast wasnt anything to write home about, massive lack of choice. Pretty much bread, ham or yogurt! Only hot thing was toast!
Staff were really friendly and helpful and check in was super quick!
The bus stop to go to Venice is about a 5 minute walk away and is really cheap! Only takes about 15 minutes and runs really regularly throughout the day, but you must remember to buy your ticket from the tobacco shop before you get on the bus!

I would highly recommend getting a coach in Venice back to the airport instead of a taxi!!! From the airport to our hotel we paid about £60 so decided to see how much a coach was going back and it only cost us 10 euros each & it took us straight to the airport door!

If you are expecting quality in a hotel, perhaps this is not the place for you. If it is just an overnight stay and then you move on and you are happy with a basic room with basic amenities then this is fine. Breakfast is easily forgettable, so is the hotel. The redeeming factor for us was that this was just a short bus ride away from the best place on earth ---- Venice
