Quality Hotel Delfino Venezia Mestre
Ranked #36 of 58 Hotels in Mestre
Reviewed 11 April 2014

we have just come back from 3 nights in venice.when we first booked i thought it was going to be a problem being outside city, but in actual fact was brilliant.
purchased 3 day bus and water bus (vaporetto)passes and we were away.

the hotel was clean comfortable and when we asked for extra pillows, help with safe etc the calls were immediately seen to.despite reading in trip advisor about breakfast we went at 3 different times on our 3 days and food was being replenished at all times, continental is what we paid for and got .mind you my croissant was a surprise the first morning maramlade inside but it was delicious.all in all i will recomend this hotel and access to buses brilliant.milk bar near hotel lovely people and a glass of wine only 1.50 and tasted goodbeer 4 so he stuck to wine

Room Tip: we were at back but traffic was not too heavy

This is a budget hotel but it is spotlessly clean and the rooms although on the small side are fine. The bed is extremely comfortable and we asked for them to for extra pillows they were promptly delivered. The breakfast could have been better but we did not starve.
The bonus of the hotel is the convenience of jumping onto a bus straight into Venice without the island prices. We bought the pass from reception to cover our stay and it was great value.

When checking in a very rude British woman insultingly asked one of the receptionists if she enjoyed her job in a cruel and threatening manner. The girl was very upset and had to be taken outside to be comforted. I could not believe that anyone could be so ignorant regardless of any circumstances. I was uncomfortable and ashamed to be one of their compatriots. To us reception was helpful at all times and staff willing to help.

Room Tip: We had a top floor room 710 facing the back and it was very quiet

1.breakfast is very poor using the cheapest products you can imagine
2. Don't have your dinner at the restaurant , you spend £30 for small slice of beef, slice of chicken and 8 slices of grilled veg plus glass of 150 ml of wine!!!!! Yes!! I couldn't believe it- hardly see anything on the plate!
3. The is small coffee machine next to bar, it's 80 cense but always is broken! And you won't get money back and they tell you , it's not their problem.
4. They talk in Italian in front of you when is a problem, so you know they start talking about you- very rude!!
5. Beds are very uncomfortable and it's loud around , also not very safe .

Pluses now..
1. Rooms are clean
2. Closed to Venice by bus 15min. Train 6min
3. Food is good outside hotels restaurant

Do not expect any sort of help from the hotel staff on reception, they actually looked like they were on community service, not that you can call it any sort of service. Arrived around 10pm after a 6 hour train journey, when we asked if we could find anywhere to eat, we were told EVERYWHERE was closed.....even for drinks and a snack? .....yes all closed. We asked about the hotels near the station only to be told we shouldn't go there because we could be shot!! Nice.

Asked for a map the next day and got a blunt rely of "We don't have one " no eye contact, no smile, I really felt as if we were a total inconvenience. Oh and breakfast was just plain weird. I couldn't help but ask the receptionist staff when we left in the morning if she liked her job, she smiled at me sarcastically and put her thumbs up.......what a winner!!

REally nice Hotel to stay at, and so handy for everything without paying the 'Island' prices. Stayed here recently had a great room on the 5th floor (back of Hotel). Rooms are small(ish) but very adequate, with a really nice shower and comfortable beds. Mestre is more handy than nice although the shops are handy and a good variety, with a handy supermarket right below the Hotel. Buses stop right outside the Hotel from Venice and depart on the opposite side of the road for Venice, journey time is around 10 minutes and cost about 6 Euro's return. Station is a easy 10 minute walk and the Airport bus departs from there (12 Euros fare/20 minute journey to Marco Polo). There are a lot of small restaurants in the Area as the Hotel menu I found to be rather limited. Ice cream parlours are everywhere and within a two minute walk must have passed about four of these, and yes, got tempted to try them regularly.
Done a trip to Lake Garda by train..................so so easy on Italian Railways cost for the two of us return was 92 Euros and journey time was 1hour and 15 minutes on the Express service from Mestre..................Great little place to stay, and so so handy for Venice and the Italian countryside.

Good hotel in good location. Friendly and helpful receptionists. Clean rooms and comfortable beds, however make sure you do not leave anything behind as the chance to get it back is very slim. I left there my kindle charger and brand new polartec fleece and when I asked to send it back to me I heard that nothing was found in the room. For this reason my overall rating is low.
