“Budget hotel in Venice mainland”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2014

The hotel is located in Venice mainland. Frequent buses operated during the day can get you to the island. The bus stops to the island and airport are conveniently located near the hotel. Definitely good value for money.

Clean and tidy budget hotel with small room and no frills. (ancient wall hair dryer had been "repaired" with masking tape which gave up) Reception staff attitude varied, some fun, some rather curt. Breakfast was all cake and uninspiring bread, no fruit, meat, cheese or yogurt so don't expect to fill up and miss lunch! Our room faced the square and all day sun so was exceptionally warm, too hot to sleep well even though the aircon (was it working?) was on all the time. Traffic noise made leaving the window open not a happy choice. Mestre market on the Friday was huge and interesting, well worth a browse. Very handy for the bus into Venice and close to a handy supermarket. As to VENICE We bought travel passes and the Venice museum card which was good value and enjoyed getting in and around the sites. Unfortunately very many of the people employed to help the public and tourists were bad mannered and aggressive, especially at the vapouretti ticket offices, don't expect to get much help, it is easy to get the impression that the locals like your money but don't want you there. All in all though a great place to explore and swoon over the amazing buildings and views. Our break was on a Groupon and was good value and much enjoyed.

We stayed for 2 days in the hotel in the first week of May. The hotel is nice and clean with good breakfast spread, but it is in Venice Mestre, which is far from main Venice old city which is the attraction. You will need to take a bus and will take around 25 mins to reach Venice. The bus service ends pretty soon (around 7) in the evening and if you are staying for dinner and all you will have to take an expensive taxi ride. It would be wise to spend a few extra bucks and stay in main Venice. Traveling from central venice on to the mainland is also time consuming as you need to take water taxis or walk all the way, venice is very crowded with tourists and it becomes a problem. all in all, expect the location the hotel is pretty good for the price. It is around 20 mins walking from the Venice station and bus stop is nearby. There are not many good eating places around but that is the case with venice mestre.

A handy hotel for a quick budget stopover. The rooms are basic but adequate and a reasonable size. The mattress was comfortable. It can be noisy but that depends on who your neighbours are. Didn’t switch on the TV or WiFi . The breakfast was just ok, machine coffee and cake type breads, the bread rolls were very nice though. We were given a breakfast ticket and on it, it said an upgrade was available, however no one ever looked at the ticket and everything on offer was laid out to serve yourself , so I do not know what that was about . Its not a hotel you are going to remember fondly, just somewhere cheap to stay. There are not that may places to eat at night locally but eventually found a few around the main square , after that we ate out in Venice, plenty of choice and reasonable prices away from the main squares. I bought a ACTV transportation ticket beforehand on the internet Eu38 for 48 hours which included the stopping bus to and from the airport, local buses to Venice and the vaporetto / water buses. Makes life easy as you just punch in your reservation No at the airport machine and out comes the ticket. Scan it on the readers everytime before you take a ride. There is a left luggage at Venice bus terminal. Go out of peak season to enjoy the most.

This is the 3rd time we've been in this hotel. What can I say? The first time I was disappointed, the second time it was better (see my previous review about this hotel), but this time was the worst.

Cons: Our room was very very small, almost no space to walk or leave our things.
On the bed there were some black hairs (there were also some eyebrows on the sheet) even if sheets were clean. On the floor we spotted some insects (maybe bed bugs - not sure about that). Anyway they were disgusting. They were alive and were going under the bed. Then there was another one under the toilet door... Terrible!!! I'm so sorry I didn't take any pictures!! I wish I had!
Walls were also dirty. Moreover, walls are very very thin, so if you want to stay there bring your earplugs!

On the whole the only pros I would point out again are: the price (we paid 35 euro for one night), breakfast (decent but poor) and the eccellent location.

All right, you get what you pay for, so I don't expect any thrills or frills, I don't expect to sleep on a queen size bed, I don't expect quietness, I don't expect a Jacuzzi but this is really too much: this hotel is too dirty!!
I can't say we were unlucky. This is the 3rd time we've been there and 2 times out of 3 the room was dirty... this must mean something.

I won't go there back again, that's for sure!

Stayed here for 1 night as part of a tour. Hotel is close to a bus stop, supermarket and atm, wifi is expensive compared to the other hotels that we stayed at (€10 for 24hrs). I guess we were just really unlucky but the room that we stayed at was very hot and had BED BUGS. It's a good thing that we haven't unpack our things yet. We quickly talked to the receptionist and showed him the bed bugs that we crushed and the picture that we took. He was apologetic and helpful and transferred us to a different room. We had to seal and separate all the clothes that we were wearing that day to prevent any transfer of bed bugs to our other clothes and luggage. The 2nd room was better than the first, it looked renovated and it has more sockets and it had no bed bugs compared to the other room wherein the only socket that we could find was the one in the bathroom. Most of us in the tour was not satisfied with their breakfast, it was just crackers and bread. Overall, I guess you can say that this is the worst budget hotel in our tour, all the other hotels were great value for money.. but like what I said, maybe we were just unlucky with the bed bug experience.

Staff, very friendly and honestly couldn't have been any more helpful. Seems since our last visit they have improved the rooms and added new TV's and refurbished some of the bathrooms a nice plus!.

Set your expectations accordingly as this is not a luxury hotel, its a great value hotel with friendly staff. If you want a luxury hotel you need to pay for that :)

Easy to get to from Marco Polo airport take bus 15 which stops close to the hotel. For Venice take the No 7 bus to and from the hotel.

Staff will point out the nearest tobacconist where you can buy a ticket to the island, there buy a tourist pass for best value.

Wasn't a fan of the breakfast, so staff where happy to point out two local supermarkets which had great and cheap breakfast options.
