“Great base for Venice”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

Stayed in Mestre for just one night before going on a cruise from Venice. We arrived very early but we're promptly checked in by the friendly Alice. Rooms are clean and in a modern style with a nice bathroom.
We enjoyed a few hours at the beatiful pool and had a lunch there. The staff at the bar should be friendlier and the prices should be less for this food but still, it was ok.
Got our bustickets at the reception where the concergie was very helpfull. Free parking + busstop is an ideal combination for a visit to Venice!

The first night we were wakened after 10:00 pm by maintenance who said he had to come in the room to check thermostat. The air conditioning was not working on our floor. The next morning we woke to a very warm room. The front desk did move us, but we had to wait for a room to become available. So we wasted a large part of the day in moving and waiting. By the way we were in a VERY small king room and find that the new double room was much larger. There is NO option to eat an evening meal anywhere but in the VERY expensive hotel restaurant and the food there was not good. After the first night we went later to Venice and ate our evening meal in Venice which was also expensive, but it was good and the service was good. I am a Hilton honors gold member, so breakfast was included. It is only a buffet and you cannot order from the menu. It was just adequate, there were some warm options, but mainly just continental style with very poor service. I thought we might have become invisible. We have spent a lot of time in Europe, at least 200 nights, so I am familiar with prices, quality and service. In fact we had stayed at this hotel only a year before. On return home, I checked my Hilton honors account and found that I had not been given credit for points for one night. On calling Hilton, it seems to take a general board of review and 10 days to check the folio to see if I am correct. I had emailed the hotel letting them know I did not receive credit and that part of my email was ignored. When we tried to buy bus tickets at the hotel the machine was broken, so they sent us to another hotel to buy the tickets and their machine was also broken, thus another waste of time. The front desk was always crowded with people with questions, probably because they were not given correct information when they checked in. I will choose another hotel next time in Venice. There is a good chain hotel near the airport.

Room Tip: Book a double room rather than king and you will get a lot more room. Better choice is to book anot...

We used this hotel as a base for 2 days before we went on a cruise .....great location and friendly staff. The only downside for me was the on site restaurant, low quality good with Michelin star prices. The staff on reception did a great job telling you where to go.

Stopped at this hotel on our way to the port in Venice. Delightful start to the cruise.Bus stop outside the hotel taking you straight Into Venice itself. Not too far from the airport or port. Comfortable clean rooms and the restaurant was really good. All in all a good hotel to visit Venice without the cost of a central hotel.....

We stayed 3 nights at the Hilton Garden Inn in Venezia Mestre. We had an absolutely perfect time from the first minute the pretty ladies at the front desk checked us in all the way through our visit. At check-in the nice young lady showed us a map of Venice and circled all the things to go and see especially if there was a time constraint. She sold us a pass for 18 Euros per person which allows unlimited mainland buses and water taxis for 12 hours. The passes come in various denominations from 12 hours to 7 days with smaller increments in between. The 7 day pass is only 50 Euros! What a fabulous reasonable priced idea. We are on holiday for 6 months and we are now starting our third month and of all the places we have visited I would say Venice went the smoothest. Mainly because the HGI people explained everything about traveling in Venice and the fact the bust stop is 100 meters away really helped. Our room was a beautiful 5th floor corner king bed overlooking the pool and surrounding countryside. The breakfast was HGI grand as we have become accustomed to and the room delivered pizza was hot and perfect. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend as a reasonable priced luxury stay only a couple of bus stops from the Water Taxis in Venice. Grazie to the entire staff!

Room Tip: I like high floors for the views.

Stayed here for 4 nights whilst exploring Venice. Location is fantastic! Away from the hustle and bustle of of the main tourist area with a nice pool to relax at after a busy day at the sights with pool towels supplied on a daily basis.

The bus stops at the door and takes about 10 mins to the bus station and about 20 mins to the airport.

The room was very clean and simply but well furnished. Maid service was very good with towels changed if left on floor. Reception staff were very courteous, informative and friendly.

The hotel is in on a main road so this may be a consideration if you have young children.

The free wifi was good although a separate code is required for each device.

Would stay here again and recommend to others.
