We loved AquaAlta bar in Mestre. Owners Paolo and Victoria are excellent hosts and they obviously put their hearts into this café and wine bar by day and night. The first night there we had cured meats plate (mortadella, prosciutto and salami) and everything was of the very best quality. We also had roasted pig leg with salt and pepper and olive oil, marinated veggies plate, fresh mozzarella (“boufalo”?) all of this went along wonderfully with superb local and Sicilian red wines. We came back the next night and Paolo made us an amazing beef tartar which was made with raw beef and it was truly delicious. We also had roast beef and more of those veggies and the mozzarella. This place doesn’t have full kitchen service and the menu is on the chalk boards. On our second night we bought two bottles of wine and some high end chocolates that they carry to take home with us. Overall the food and service were excellent. I should also mention that on both weeknight nights this place was full with locals. If you are in Mestre this place is not to be missed!
