“Smaller hotel but not bad”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

Had a small room on the 4th floor looking out the back of the hotel to buildings. The hotel was welcoming. There is a small pizzeria right outside the front door and a small shopping mall across the road with a grocery store. The hotel had a nice bathroom (small) with a hairdryer (the one that looks like a vacuum). The decor is older European with carpeted rooms (not a huge fan of the shag type carpet in a hotel room). The room had a large window that opened wide. Only had a one night stay. The staff were very good. Grabbed a take out pizza from the pizzeria and some groceries from the store. The prices were all very reasonable. $6 Euro for a medium size pizza. Blocks of cheese at the grocery store ran $2-3 Euro. We always tried to buy all our canned drinks or bottled water from the grocery stores because they were less than one third of the price than when eating out. The breakfast at the hotel was toast/Nutella, yogurts, meats, cheeses, bread, coffee, hot chocolate etc. It was a nice spread and there was plenty of food. Paid to use the wifi $4 Euro for an hour, apparently there is free wifi somewhere in the hotel? Maybe in the lobby. The lobby had some nice lounging chairs and the World Cup soccer was playing on the TV. We went out for a stroll to what we believed was the Main Street. There were restaurants etc. one thing we were not used to is the hours of operation (most stores were closed before 7pm (although it was a Wednesday). It was a quaint area, cobblestone roads etc. It was about a 20 minute drive to the Tronchetto parking lot for the water taxi to Venice. Most locals did not speak English.

Room Tip: It's a quiet area in general, the rooms with the 2 single beds were quite small. If you want a l...

This hotel is on the bus line on Corso Popolo, a 10-15 minute bus ride from Venice. It is in a great area. We were gone for most of the day but came back in the late afternoon and there was a nice buzz around the area from what appeared to be locals, or at least mostly Italians vs. tourists. The hotel itself was decorated in a traditional theater style, but I would not describe it as ornate or gaudy. The staff spoke English and was very helpful. The room was clean, although warm, and a traditional European size - not lots of room. It is not a high end hotel with lots of services or amenities, however we were very happy there for our one night stay during our trip to Venice. It offered a free European style breakfast with rolls and coursants and meats and coffee.

The hotel offered to hold our bags after we checked out. There was a spot next to a bar in a nearby corner that had 3 locks and 3 chains. We were given one of the locks and a chain and instructed to put the chain around our bags and lock it to the bar. When we returned, we were to unlock the chain and take the bags and leave the lock and cahin. This worked well for us, but may not be appreciated by everyone. Our other option was to bring our bags to the train station and lock them in the lockers there.

The price was reasonable, the stay was pleasant, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful, it was in a good location and we received great service. I would happily stay here again.

This was a great little hotel, rooms very small and bathroom extra small, but with all that being said - it was functional and we had a good laugh. When sitting on the loo you could not close the door as your knees where in the room! If you are a big person - perhaps this hotel wont work for you, but we enjoyed our time here! It was clean and had everything we needed.Very convenient to the bus stop to get into Venice just a few minute walk and then close enough to little restaurants and coffee or drinks places to go and have a meal and a drink. Lots of wonderful shops on the way to the bus stop - which unfortunately were closed as we went over Easter time! Lots of people walking around the area and kids and dogs around - very family oriented in the area.
We were also part of a group traveling Italy.

Had Three days in this Hotel
staff were very friendly and rooms were very clean ,they are small but big enough for a short stay
The Breakfast was European buffet style and plentiful
it is in the centre of Mestre and only 5 mins walk to the main bus stops
we purchased a travel ticket at the Hotel for 35 Euros (great value)
this works on the buses in to Venice and the water buses in Venice and will save you a fortune
all in all a great value place to stay

Room Tip: ask for a room with a bacony

When planning a trip to Venice and you're either coming by car or you're not willing to pay too much by staying in Venice, Mestre is a good alternative. Hotel Venezia is easy to reach by car and has a good number of free (!!) parking spots for guests.
The hotel is shoddy with all its gold, red and green decorations but this is actually one of it's plusses. Brings you in a good mood.
From the hotel its extremely easy to get to Venice; buses 4 & 4L stop just around the corner and within 15mins you'e on Piazzale Roma.
The hotel staff is friendly and are more than willing to explain how to get to Venice or to Mestre Center. The reception even sells the 24hr travel tickets.
Breakfast is okay; there is bread, cheese and sausage. Simple but enough. Rooms are okay; they are a bit small with not much space to leave your luggage and so is the bathroom but they do. Also the rooms are a bit noise; you do hear quit some sounds from the hallway and other rooms. Unfortunately the Wifi signal in the rooms is very unstable; depsite the log-in codes there is not much signal; even on the 1st floor.
