The service was very unfriendly. There web information was misleading. Advertised free transportation to the airport, however because it was a 6:30 am flight, would not provide the service and stated they only did this between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, however this is not stated anywhere on the site or the Venere.com site, which this hotel was booked through.
As the flight was so early they would not provide breakfast.
No food service available within one half mile. You require a car to stay at this hotel.
Quoted in an e-mail a cost to pick us up at the ship, however overcharged when we were picked up.

The stay in Verde Venezia was wonderful and a highlight of our entire trip. It felt like a stay in the country. Here are a few tips:

1. Getting to the hotel from the airport/Mestre train station

Christina, who runs the B&B does usually offer to pick the guests up from the Casino upon their arrival, which is only about 10 minute walk from the hotel. To get to that point, you must take a bus from either the airport or the train station. If you are traveling from Mestre's train station, it will take you over 30 minutes to get to the Ca' Noghera/Casino. If you arrive by plane, it's only 7-10 short minutes away by bus. We purchased our tickets from the driver. You can buy Venice discount card in the city, which will include both vaporetto and bus travel, make sure you are buying the right one though.
Christina will ask you to call her once you’re in front of the Casino, but there is no payphone nearby, so if you do not have a working cell phone, you may walk across the street to the small restaurant/pizzeria and ask them to call Christina from Verde Venezia to come and pick you up. The restaurant staff DOES NOT speak English, so prepare a few phrases in Italian to explain what you need. Christina does speak some English, but I would highly recommend bringing a dictionary and a phrase book if you need to ask her something specific.

2. Getting to Venice from the B&B

In the morning, you will have to first catch a bus to the airport and then another bus to Venice's bus terminal.

In the afternoon, you can catch a free shuttle from Casino that will drop you off at the same bus terminal. It does not, however, start to circulate until well after noon. Christina has a schedule for buses and shuttles posted around the B&B.

3. Getting to the B&B from Venice

In the afternoon, you can catch a bus from the main bus terminal to the airport and then another bus to the Casino.
You can also catch the free Casino shuttle from a designated spot at the bus terminal. The shuttle stops right behind a green overpass that divides the terminal in two parts. The shuttle will stop on the part facing away from the vaporetto loading docks. The schedule is inconspicuous but is posted on a pole at the stop. Be warned that some shuttle drivers are on the lookout for the backpackers that catch the shuttle for free and then walk to multiple camp sites scattered around the casino. If you’re asked, say you’re going to the Casino to gamble and not to “il campo”. Shuttle drivers do not speak English, but if you are 30 or above, they are unlikely to ask you at all because you do not fit the profile of a typical backpacker. When Christina told us to catch the shuttle back from Venice we thought it was a common practice and the drivers knew about it, however it doesn’t appear to be so and they seem to be annoyed with people catching a free ride. We took the shuttle back to the B&B 3 consecutive nights and only got asked once whether we were going to “il campo”. The answer should be “no, no, andiamo al casinò”.

Once in front of the Casino, you have to walk the rest of the way regardless of whether you take bus or a shuttle, they all stop in front of a Casino. Christina only picks you up once, when you first arrive, so you have to walk the rest of the distance. It’s really not that far and quite easy to find. Just continue walking in the same direction until you see a church (about 2 minute walk) and turn left. Then you have to walk for about 10 minutes until you see Verde Venezia on your left (see the picture).

In the evening, be careful not to miss the last bus/shuttle or you can get stuck in the city. Check Christina’s bus and shuttle schedule, I recommend you write it down for yourself.

4. B&B: rooms, breakfast, garden, etc.

Verde Venezia is removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is set in a very quiet and green surrounding and apart from the birds singing through the whole night we were undisturbed our entire visit.

You will have ready access to the garden, where you can eat your food, have a drink or just relax. There are a few bicycles that you can borrow to go to one of the restaurants in the vicinity to eat lunch/dinner. We tried pizza from the restaurant across from the Casino and liked it a lot. Christina told us there is another restaurant nearby, but we never made it there. Everything closes early, so make sure you eat in Venice if you are coming back to B&B late in the evening.

We had a lovely room on the first floor with the garden view. The bathroom was clean and spacious; we had a mini fridge in our room, a kettle, and a working TV.

I asked nicely and Christina’s allowed me to use the Internet from her office computer. Keep in mind that Christina does not spend the night in the B&B, she leaves in the evening and comes back in time to serve breakfast. The office is locked in the evening, so you will not have access to the computer.

Breakfast is the same every morning and not very creative. You get juice, croissants, bread rolls, Melba toast, tea/coffee and a few spreads. Useful tip: the later you come in for breakfast, the harder your bread and the darker your croissants will be. When Christina comes in the morning, she sets a few baskets with bread into the oven to heat up and takes them out as you come out for breakfast.

Overall, we were very pleased with our stay in Verde Venezia – it was cheap and we didn’t mind the commute to Venice every day (about 30 minutes each way, faster if taking a Casino shuttle). This is a very relaxing and charming spot and we were glad to come back to the quiet countryside every night after a long day in Venice. I would definitely stay here again if I ever come back to Venice and would recommend this place to anyone, who doesn’t mind the commute and is looking for a nice, relaxing place to stay for a lot less money than in Venice itself.

This is a nice place in the country about 5 Km fromVenice's Marco Polo airport. The rooms are generous and well equiped, even with a small fridge (not a mini-bar, nothing in it to buy at inflated prices). It is ideal for travelers with their own transportation. You had better print out a small scale map before you try to find it, and I wouldn't like to try to find it for the first time arriving after dark.

We made our booking for Verde Venezia through the RyanAir website link in June, 3 months in advance. Our Mastercard number was duly recorded in the print out confirmation we received after making the booking. First problem: we had been upgraded from 2 to 3 beds, and would be charged for each bed. We thought the extra space might come in handy, so duly agreed to the change, although the process of upgrading and the extra charges worried us.

The confirmation note said to telephone on arrival at Mestre Railway Station. When we did so, we found the office had no knowledge of us. The hotel was full. Did we have any proof of our booking? Could we show that proof to the hotel management? We would be met and taken to Verde Venezia...

We took a local bus to the meeting place, the Ca' Noghera Casino car park. (Yes, truly!) Surprisingly, we were not left totally stranded: a young lady met us, denied all knowledge of our deposit ('it went to the booking agency, not to us'), then took us to the Ca' Noghera Hotel.

Actually, Ca' Noghera treated us well. They were sympathetic towards us and were located near the bus stop. We rang Verde Venezia several times to recover our papers which they 'needed to trace where the problem was...' We never got our papers back and each time I rang to insist on their return I was greeted by evasions over my identity and the existence of the confirmation note. Getting nowhere and wasting a lot of time, I gave up (we have photocopies, of course).

We never saw the Verde Venezia Hotel. If you deal with this company, beware. An honest firm making an honest mistake would have returned the papers as promised....

Instead of the Verde Venezia, call Ca' Noghera da Romolo (Italy country code) --------. When I called on my mobile, I had to keep the zero in the number. They will give you a fair deal for 80 euros a night , and they have a good restaurant. Ask for an English speaker to call you back; the young managers have no English but are great hosts!
