We used this hotel as our base to visit Venice, Verona and Padova. It's localtion was great within easy walking distance of train station, bus stop for Venice, supermarket and reasonably priced restaurants for our evening meals. Staff were very helpful and friendly (they even provide you with a small map of Venice and direction on buses and places of interests). Room was nice and clean with comfy beds, ensuite bathroom and the wifi was great. There was also a tv and aircondition in the room. The breakfast was very good.
We would definetly stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to our friends. Great value for money!!!

Having terrible hotel experience in Rome, we were pleasantly surprised with the hospitality and warmth of Montepiana. It is super close ( about 6 blocks) from Venizia Mestre train station. We reached after 9 PM on the Easter Sunday, so were not sure of the reception, but we had hotel manager waiting for us. They provided us with Venice map and directions for activities to do in Venice the Next day. Room was nice and clean and of good size by European standards.
We had a great breakfast in the morning. A basket of rolls , cheese, jams etc. with a glass of orange juice. Coffee / cappuccino / hot chocolate made order with frothy milk and croissants made a good start for the day.
Hotel also holds your baggage at no charge (even after you check out) , giving you a great flexibility for site seeing. Staff does speak English very well , so that is very helpful. It is quite expensive to stay in Venice and staying in Mestre and travelling to the island takes only about 10-15 minutes everyday, so you get really good value for money in this place.

Don't let you fool yourself by this 2 star hotel. It is very nice and clean. The staff is friendly and helpfull.
The breakfast was also a good surprise! It consists in cornetti, cappucino, caffe latte, caffe, orange juice ,fresh bread ,toasts, multiple jams ,butter ,cheese... But don't expect the tipical continental breakfast with eggs, ham, yogurt, fruit and so on.
The rooms are big and the bed was confortable. Small but practical shower ,with very good water temperature and pressure. Free wifi. Tv and heating in each room.
1,40 € for turist tax per person per day (in Venezia historical center is more expensive).

In the end this was the best option for our 3 nights in Venice because it's 5 min walking from train station and it seemed to us also a very safe area. There are trains going to venezia santa lucia (to historical city center) every 10 min and it takes around 10 minutes. One way ticket costs 1,25 € (even though we weren't checked even once).

You should choose this hotel specially if you have a lot of luggage or simply if you don't want to risk being lost in the small streets of venezia historical center looking for your hotel/ b&b/ hostel. I saw many tourists going up and down stairs, lost, looking for their hotel... which was even worse during the night, when basically there's no one on the streets to help u!

Last advices...
If you are less than 25 (?) u can buy 72h ticket that worths for bus and boats (not train) for 22 or 24 € (can't remember exactly). Buses and boats are also running during late hours of the night and there are connections with Mestre. That is usefull if you are lazy to walk, if you want to travel by boat and visit the other islands (burano, lido, ...) or simply if you want to move faster. Single tickets are very expensive... We didn't buy this because we didn't have so much time to visit the islands and for me the best was 'getting lost' and discovering the small and mysterious streets of Venice :D

For souvenirs... there was one store near Alfredo's fresh pasta (justified #1 trip advisor restaurant in Venice - worth a visit!) with the cheapest silver and murano glass earings, watches, bracelets, necklesses, etc... Many stores are constantly with 50 % discount and prices change a lot, so go arround a bit before you make your choice :D

We were looking for a reasonably priced hotel with links into Venice without having to pay Venetian prices.
Hotel Montepiana provided that for us. A mere 3or 4 minutes walk into Venice Mestre station the hotel offers clean and comfortable rooms with an average but plentiful breakfast and free parking.
Ideal for a stress free visit to Venice.
My advice to anyone would be not to stay in Venice itself as I saw heaps of stressed looking people dragging their suitcases around the city trying to get to or from their hotels. The only other way to get your luggage to your hotel is water and this can be expensive..

This is a basic hotel but the rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast consists of croissants, bread rolls and toast with coffee/tea/chocolate and juice. The hotel is a five minute walk to Mestre train station (the journey to Venice takes slightly longer than 10mins and costs €1.20 one way). The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. We found Montepiana to be a great alternative to staying in Venice itself.
