The room was fabulous, spacious and clean. The bed was excellent.

The breakfast was average minus, also they open only at 7:30 so for early flights it’s not optimal.
The car parking is far from the room/reception and no assistance was offered (but also we didn’t ask).

The hotel is very close to the airport (15 minutes in the morning) and about 20 minutes drive from Venice.

Dear Noam J,

We're delighted to see the bed appreciated so much, as well as the spacious room and the cleanliness.

On the other hand, we are truly sorry that you didn't like the breakfast so much. You're right, we understand that 7.30 am could be inconvenient - this is why, starting next Monday, breakfast will open at 7 am, hopefully helping those with early flights or meetings.

Please note that if you come back here at Villa Barbarich, we will be more than happy to assist you with the car, feel free to ask the reception.

We definitely look forward to welcoming you again in the future,

Best Regards,

This review is very difficult to write for me. We have been maybe 10 times in Villa Barbarich, we loved this Villa and people here so much, that we celebrate a Capodanno (New Years Eve) here. And everything was fantastic!!! You can read my maybe 4 previous reviews on this Villa here.
But times are changing. When we came the first time this year, we found a very nice leaflet (on expensive paper), that Villa Barbarich joined group HPH (Historical Palaces and Hotels). Nice. But we did not get welcome glass of prosseco, we did not get small, but cute candy on the pillow. What we get was poorer service, new staff and higher prices. The dissapointment continued on the dinner in Malipiero Restaurant, which was our the most favourite restaurants at all. Higher prices, terrible wine list, small portions. Well, the food is still very good, but used to be better in the past. We used to drink Barolo or Brunelo here for about 45-55 EUR. Not now...I do not know, who made the Wine list, but for sure, he does not understand what about the wines are.
Positive is, that Villa is still very beautiful, spotless clean, location is fantastic. Negative is, that after 10 times visiting Villa, I can COMPARE. And old Villa was much more better.
I think, that is all about people. And people are changing in the Villa. And new people are not so attentive as the staff before. Service in the garden and by the pool is terrible. Nobody takes care about you. If you want something, you must go in and ask. This couldn't happened before. Service and staff was the main asset of the villa. I can remember Giancarlo, Christian, Davide, Chef Ricciardo, Catalina, ladies by the breakfast. All TOP NOTCH.
New staff is trying, but still do not reach the quality of previous. For guests coming here for the first time it can looks like perfect hotel. But when you can compare 4 years of frequent visiting, you can see, that this really beautiful hotel is going down. And it is shame. For instance, I found 24 EUR on my bill, which was not mine. I know, this can happened, but there was not a word of apologise.
As I said, this review is not easy to write for me. A lot of positive memories, friendly relationships, a lot of perfect wine and fantastic food consuming in nearly perfect atmosphere.
I can still RECOMMEND this hotel, but I do not know, if I will return again.
Maybe it is time to try find another hotel on our half way to Tuscany.

Dear jojosr,

first of all, thank you very much for your detailed review, your loyalty towards our Villa Barbarich and your compliments.

Your feedback, especially as a valued repeater client, is very much appreciated. I deeply regret that your last experience did not fullfill your expectations. Please be assured that it is our steady goal to deliver high level of service, attention and hospitality. Our excellent reviews on booking.com and Tripadvisor are a daily proof of that. But you are right, "time goes by" and "time is changing". It has to change, as standing still is a step back.
Of course employees change live, working place and destination; new colleagues need time to step in their footsteps; habits change, new rules appear and things move on.
So we do, with a lot of passion.

Your comments, as helpful as they are, also left some confusion, as 1) We din't increase prices. The opposite - in our restaurant we decreased the prices. 2) We never offered Barolo or Brunelo for 45-55 EUR 3) Our wine menu is balanced and very much appreciated by our clients 4) Our breakfast ladies are the same as before 5) We have no files about a 24 Euro charge which was not yours.

I can assure that our property is not going down, but perhaps changing, as we are part of a dynamic and changing market, surrounding, destination and world.

It would be our pleasure to welcome you again soon at Villa Barbarich and to apply a special repeater discount for your future bookings as long as you agree that we cannot turn back time.

With best regards from Venice, yours sincerely,

Sven Kornemann

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in May. The facilities were very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The spa is very nice too. Transport is easy so if you don’t mind spending between 15-30 minutes (depending on time of day) getting yourself to and from Venice and then walking up/taking a water bus to the centre, this is a great choice.

What about food? Breakfast is great, so much choice for everyone. One night, we dined at the restaurant and it was a proper fine dining experience (I disagree with the reviews that there were small portions or extortionate prices - we paid €100 for a delicious 3-course meal with a good bottle of wine). The only minor defect was that the meat I had in my dish was barely warm when served.

Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

Reviews like yours definitely make our day, thank you so much.

We are delighted to see our convenient and peaceful location - just few minutes away from the bustle of Venice city center - appreciated, also thanks to the comfortable beds, the restaurant and your fine dining experience and, last but not least, the breakfast.

Thank you for pointing out the excellent value for money, we really appreciate that.

Looking forward to welcoming you again in the future,

This villa is just stunning. From entering the grounds to the smallest details in the room is just perfect. The beds are comfortable and the wooden details on ceilings make the room feel very cozy and relaxing.
The outdoor area is well maintained and the pool area is very nice.
The paintings in the restaurant are impressive.

The hotel is located quite close to Venice. We had a car so was abut 10-15 minutes drive, so I would much prefer to stay here again then in the city.

First of all thank you so much for such a glowing review, we're pleased to read that "From entering the grounds to the smallest details in the room is just perfect", not to mention the fact that you enjoyed the wooden details on the ceilings, the outdoor area and the impressive frescoes.

Thank you for pointing our convenient and peaceful location out, just few minutes away from Venice city center.

visiting the hotel for 3rd time in 4 years.. still very well maintained service very attentive . only thing that really disappointed was 2 very large dogs allowed in breakfast room.i understand some nationalities love there pets but I think taking and allowing them in area dedicated to food is taking things to far .. Really spoilt my breakfast experience.
