I stayed here recently as part of a group -the rooms were comfortable if a little noisy, we had a double bed, tv, hairdryer, fitter wardrobe an over bath shower in our bathroom. Breakfast was a little disappointing -there was no fresh fruit and waiting staff were a little techy. We ate in the hotel one evening and had their taster menu -this was a real mixed bag but worth the 20 Euro pp price tag -even if we didn't eat a couple of the course (cuttlefish!). The swimming pool was okay but the jacuzzi was a little tame and in a conservatory type add on to the main building. We only found out on the last day about the additional spa areas (heart shaped jacuzzi). The staff generally were friendly and helpful and they often had multi-roles- reception and bar staff for example, which often meant waiting a while. The bar measures are huge and bar prices very reasonable. We didn't explore much of Montecatini but there is a train station approx 10 mins walk from hotel and the funiculor to Motecatini Alto is around a 15-20 min walk from the hotel.

A nice family run hotel, well located, really good food, helpful staff. Highly recommended for a stay in Montecatini. I stayed there for three nights four days with a large group and was impressed with the location which was handy for the park, local spas, shops, market and railway station. The rooms were good and the meals were excellent. They serve a good continental breakfast with cereals, meats, cheese, fresh fruit & pastries, and the evening meals were terrific and very reasonably priced. I would definitely stay there again.

Overall a fine place with a great chef and good wait staff. Part of a group of 50 and were well taken care of except for one male daesk clerk who seemed to hate everyone and was rude, discourteuos and lied constantly. The a.c. worked only between 1400 and 8:00 and was controlled(seemingly) by the desk person. The rooms were comfortable and large bu European standards. The meals were always tasteful, and included an extensive salad bar and dessert area. Coffee was by machine.

Room Tip: In speaking to our fellow tour travelers all rooms seem to be different. Lower floors would mean no...

Travelled with a tour group who were switched to this hotel at short notice (should have stayed at the Grand Hotel Plaza). We were assured that it was of the same standard and on checking the website/reviews it seemed fine. However reality was disappointing and a mish-mash of styles. Reception looked more suited to Las Vegas - black and silver sofas and studded shiny white chairs, all looking a bit worn. The white wicker furniture around the pool was also a bit tatty and we were bitten quite badly each time we sat out. Both the outdoor pool and jacuzzi were cold but there is a sliding roof over this area which helped on cooler days . We were given a complimentary spa entrance voucher but did not get chance to use it due to our sightseeing programme so can't comment on this. On entering our bedroom on the ground floor, my first impression was 'no way am I staying in here!' There was no window apart from two ceiling level vents which were permanently open, furniture was mismatched and the air conditioning unit was broken and without controls. However further investigation showed this room adjoined another which was a bit more acceptable but still quite dark even when the outside shutters were open. A french door led to a small outside seating area. Air conditioning worked but we had to ask at reception most nights to get it switched on. Bed was comfortable and we had no complaints about cleanliness. As it was two adjoining rooms we also had the choice of two ensuite bathrooms which were small but perfectly adequate with plenty of hot water, clean towels and an efficient shower. Others in our group fared less well and there were lots of complaints. Breakfast was the usual continental fare plus scrambled egg and bacon for the traditionalists, but late risers will be disappointed as some items are not replenished. Useless toaster (why can't hotels have efficient toasters?) and the sliced bread was wafer thin (and mouldy on one occasion!). Juice was horrible and coffee was from a machine and pretty tasteless whatever combination you chose. As we were with a group we had to eat together and choose from a 4 course set menu at dinner (antipasti, soup/pasta, meat/fish, dessert) which was OK to start with but on four nights out of six the only meat offered was veal which some people won't eat anyway. There was a salad buffet to accompany dinner but no hot vegetables/potatoes. House wine was quite acceptable and only 8 euros a bottle. Waiter service left much to be desired - plates were sometimes cleared and the next course delivered before all at the table had finished eating. The hotel was very busy and we got the impression they wanted us out as quickly as possible. One night a waiter knocked a full glass of wine into a lady's lap and no effort was made by the staff to clean it up. She had to go and change and it was left to us to mop up with paper napkins. At the end of the meal our table was told that the wine would be free of charge that night but this did not excuse the previous lack of concern. Would not want to return here - the hotel would be acceptable for short stopovers but a week was far too long.

We spent three nights here, and enjoyed our stay. Decor was mainly traditional Italian, but with all mod cons. The food was plentiful and well cooked.
It was very clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and our only complaint was that the TV wouldn`t work as it was broken.
However, the hotel is centrally situated and only five minutes walk from the town centre, which was lively even on a Sunday night. Staff were quite helpful and I would use this hotel again.

Room Tip: As the lifts only hold two people comfortably with luggage, probably a good idea to get a ground flo...

My fiancè and I spent just one night at this hotel in Montecatini, mostly in order to try the Spa. Overall we had an amazing experience!

Of course my judgement can be biased by the fact it was my first time in a Spa, nevertheless I can say the receptionists were really kind and professional when we booked by phone and also when we arrived at the hotel, the hotel looks generally nice as with decorations and furnitures, the rooms are beautiful and with all possible accessories and the breakfast was good.

But certainly the added value of the hotel is the WONDERFUL Spa: an emotional shower, a special "salt-treatment" vaporised room (Rasul bath), a spatious jacuzzi, Kneipp basins for feet treatment, a relax area with drinks and fruits, a Turkish bath, a wonderful sauna (my favourite!) and much more. All wrapped in a sensual and relaxing atmosphere with music and steam everywhere. A dream!

Can't say much about the price since we went there with one of those "box offers" gave to us by a friend as a present. We will never thank him enough for the wonderful experience we had thanks to his gift!

Highly recommended for the Spa.

LIKED: the Spa above all but also the elegant feeling coming from the hotel.
DISLIKED: there was no shower gel nor shampoo in the room -probably it was just an oversight since there were other beauty bottles (such as cream, oil, etc.)
