“Handy for Florence/Lucca but . . .”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

But grubby and ticket office closed every time we went. Accosted by beggars demanding money for 'helping' me operate the automatic ticket machine

“I know why Mussolini was popular for saying "The Trains Will Run on Time".”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014

One of Montecatini's attractions is the location of the station. Shame it is run by TrenItalia. I will not complain about the tardiness of British trains again. Not helped by the Sunday there was an unannounced Wildcat strike, against the government's austerity plans. It is not a place you want to be stuck waiting and check VERY CAREFULLY your timetable. The facilities were all locked when we were there. But looked pretty poor anyway.

When the train did eventually bother to turn up, it was quite comfortable and air conditioned.

Hint. Get your tickets from the local Tobacconists. It is a lot quicker, not least as the ticket office doesn't seem to adhere to any particular timetable. It opens when somebody can be bothered to turn up.

“Montecatini to Florence by Train”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

Well worth travelling to Florence by train. Only cost 5.30 Euros single one way and takes about 1 hour. Get a number 12 bus outside the Firenze station to the Piazale Michael Angelo (2 Euros) for a spectacular view of Florence.

“Old Montecatini Alto by cable car”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

It was wonderful to go up day or night for the views and restaurants in the old square. We did not have musicians playing in the square, but apparently sometimes they are there. At night the square is beautifully lit up.

“choose the right station for you!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014 via mobile

The bus station is right next to this station for all intercity buses...also many day excusrion trips leave from here but you will need to stand over near the booth near main road....if using these trains to arrive you need to print off a map and know where your hotel is located and get off at the closest staion...this one or centro. The whole town is on a slight incline so you dont want to go uphill and not be in the right place. No ticket service on sundays and closed over siesta but the machine is very easy to use.
