Maria and her brother Pierre are two great hosts. Maria helped us to book our excursion to Cinque Terre. Also, we wanted to go to a spa for a day. She proposed Gusti Grotta and it was a great
experience.

My wife and I stayed one week at La Pia as part of a large group from the UK. Nothing was too much trouble for Maria and her brother Pierre backed up by excellent staff. They were always at hand to help with booking local attractions or rail tickets, getting taxis, serving drinks inside and also on the patio outside the hotel which was part of a leafy, attractive square.

We paid a supplement of 12 euros a night for a room with bacony overlooking the square. We found this to be excellent value. A big plus for us was the free wifi in the hotel and in the bedrooms. The television had plenty channels but all in Italian however CNN was always displayed on a screen in the reception area.

I would have liked a fridge in the room but fresh ice was provided for us in an ice bucket daily!

We were on half board terms and the cold breakfast was plentiful with good strong coffee, boiled eggs, cereals, cheese and ham with some excellent freshly baked croissants which tasted very nice with jam. Desserts and cakes were also available.

Overall the evening meal was good and some local Italian specialites were provided and explained to us by Maria.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a balcony room with a view over the square

Stayed here for 3 nights on B&B. Hotel is a bit dated but clean and tidy. Bed is so comfy, lovely and soft. View from room was just rooftops but that was ok as we weren't in it much. TV with sky was good to hear world news now and again. Excellent wifi in bedrooms. Bath and shower and hair dryer in bathroom. Breakfast was lovely with plenty to eat, usual choice, bread, ham, cheese, cake, fruit juice, yogurt, jam etc. Fresh fruit salad and pieces of fruit available. Really good breakfast. Close to shops and train station. Staff very helpful. Only down side was evening meal which we only availed off on first night. Lasagne was really delicious but the vegetable buffet was terrible. Broccoli was over-cooked and chilled. Disgusting, so we never ate there again in the evenings. Plenty of places to choose from locally. Train takes about 50mins to get you into Florence. A trip up the mountain to Montecatini Alto is an experience not to be missed. View from the top is fantastic. Climb is not for the unfit. Cable train is available to take the easy option. Spas that operate locally appear to be very expensive and prices are starting prices. Once you are in they try to sell other treatments and products to you. Gave all that part a miss as there was plenty to see and do without that. Market is on Thursday and a fair size. Trains are very reliable and great value.

Room Tip: Lovely B&B

We would like to thank you for your review. We are really sorry to find out after your departure your disappointment regarding our vegetable buffet. We would like to give you some information. The 12-15 kinds of vegetables are usually served at room temperature but the air conditioning of the dining roommay have over-chilled them.
Our clients can always ask us to heat up the vegetables.
The over cooking of the broccoli was our mistake. We do really regret you did not have the chance to let you taste them correctly cooked. I personally buy the vegetables and fruit every day paying attention to freshness and the quality.
If we are immediately informed about any inefficiency or problems we try to solve it and satisfy our guest's wishes.
We look forward to seeing you again in our hotel

Returned home last week after spending a week at La Pia Hotel and just wanted to say we had a wonderful time. Pierre and Maria are what other hoteliers should strive to be. Its easy to see why the hotel ratings are so high, absolutely nothing is too much trouble. Pierre kindly purchased our train tickets in advance to Lucca and Florence for our day trips. On our final day we weren't due to leave Montecatini until 4 in the afternoon and Maria very kindly allowed us to keep our room so we could freshen up before our journey. They actually made time to speak to guests and made us feel special. Thank you Pierre and Maria for a wonderful stay at your hotel and wish you all the best for the future.

Room Tip: we had room 31 and had a balcony overlooking the seating area with the fountain in front of the hotel, very nice

Our group stayed for five nights at this splendid hotel. It is located centrally in Montecatini which is a delightful spa town in Tuscany. For the owners, Pierre and especially the delightful Maria, who was fluent in English, nothing was too much trouble. This attitude was reflected in their long serving staff who were unfailingly pleasant and helpful. Our rooms were comfortable and clean and enjoyed some of the most effective and quiet air conditioning I have known. The food was very high in quality, but not in price. It was especially good for vegetarians. The wine list was very good and much less expensive than in an equivalent UK hotel. Although nominally a three star, La Pia is in our view four star in accommodation and five star in service. Should we return to the area, and we probably will, we will certain wish to stay here,
