Centrally based hotel with a good sized bedroom located a short distance from local shops and restauarnts. Excellent service, however we were slightly disappointed by the cleanliness of the room hence the "average" rating.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel as part of a “Top to Toe of Italy” holiday. I cannot comment on value, because the cost was included in the package.
The hotel is in a small town not too far from Pisa and Florence, so is a good base for touring. There is not much to do in the town, but I would recommend a trip to Montecatini Alto using the funicular railway. Montecatini Alto is high in hills overlooking Montecatini Terme and there are splendid views over the surrounding countryside. Montecatini Alto is a small town with some shops and several good restaurants – it’s worth a visit.
The Hotel President is a pleasant hotel with comfortable, clean rooms. However, you will have to ask for the air conditioning to be turned on, because it is controlled from a computer in reception. Also, it had a nasty habit of turning itself off during the night, which is irritating during hot weather.
The food and service were good. There is a small bar and comfortable lounge in the reception area and a good garden in which to take refreshments.
Decent room here with free wifi and nice aircon. Helpful staff to. The bar was good with a nice outside space to sit. Bathroom was a bit odd with the shower across the bath instead of at one end, but that wouldn't put us off staying again.
We had a nice size room with very good air con and free wifi. The staff were very good. There is a nice bar area, with reasonable prices and a nice seating area in the courtyard. The reason I gave 4 instead of 5 is that the bathroom was a poor design with the shower facing across the bath rather than down it meaning it had limited space. Not a bad hotel all the same.
We spent the last days of December in this hotel and we were disappointed regarding the breakfast which was very poor (in any case not 4 stars) no eggs or omlette in the first two days, only ham and cheese. After we insisted to be improved, they brought some eggs, but not for all the people in the restaurant. We were obliged to be the first in the restaurant in order to have access to all the menu, otherwise when something finished, the personnel said"I am very sorry" and that is it.
The old guy from the reception was very rude, not open to solve problems, and he treated us as we were there for free.
We do not recommend this hotel, because it is not 4 stars, probably 2 stars.
We stayed here for three nights in October 2013 as part of a Top to Toe of Italy tour . It is a lovely, friendly hotel. The rooms were very clean and spacious and the staff were friendly and helpful; nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was good, all freshly cooked. The hotel also has a small courtyard and garden area which is very well maintained. The only problem was the noise from the lift. So I would suggest you ask for a room as far away from the lift as you can. Montecatini Terme is a lovely little town. If you have time, take a trip on the furnicular up to the higher town which is worth a visit just for the fantastic views. The receptionist will give you a map and say it is a ten minute walk - realistically more like 25 minutes.
