“Wonderful, again!”
Reviewed 29 June 2013

This must have been our fifth visit to the Hotel Astoria. The hotel is family run, and the service from the multi-lingual staff is SUPERB! Book the dinner, bed and breakfast package, as the evening meal is not to be missed. The menu changes every day, with a choice of 4 starters, 4 mains, salad, desserts, fresh fruit, cheeses! All the desserts are homemade too. Great wine list with lots of local wines at reasonable prices! Breakfast has a good choice of fresh bread and fresh pastries, fresh fruit, as well as an assortment of Italian meats and cheeses, choice of cereals too.(Everything at the Hotel is typically Italian, including the food and the decor.) Perfect place to use as a base to visit other villages in Tuscany (there is a train station right in the village).....then come back at the end of the day for a nice swim in the pool, before your evening meal. Or.....just spend the day relaxing at the pool (they even serve a casual lunch at the pool). Highly recommend the Hotel Astoria for a very relaxing, traditional Italian experience!!!

I suggest the owners to travel around and to visit some hotels . If you ask a price then i may have some requirements too . Entrance old.Breakfeast very little fresh items and low profile. I do not understand some reviews here , which mislead me.
Room was with good working airco. They try to renovate but not professional .
Swimmingpool is for me not at all inviting to relax.
Staff is very friendly and helpfull. For the evening restaurant La Pecora Nera in town strongly recommanded.

We recently returned home from another wonderful vacation in Montecatini where we stayed for the first time at the elegant Hotel Astoria. The hotel far exceeded all our expectations. Ciro Taddei and his parents were our gracious and accommodating hosts. Our spacious suite was comfortable and immaculate as were all the public spaces and the lobby area was beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated. The courteous staff was efficient and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast every morning. We would definitely return to this delightful hotel in the future and would highly recommend it to our family and friends. Darrel B.

Room Tip: A room or suite on an upper floor would be a good choice.

Stayed at Hotel Astoria in September. Lovely reception area but our room definately required to be modernised. Food for breakfast is good but not a 4* evening meal. We compared this to the hotels we stayed in at Lake Garda also 4* and were not impressed. Staff at hotel reception excellent.

we have visited montecatini seven times now, we love the resturants of which we have found many wonderful eating houses, there are also many bars and wonderful spa's to visit, this location is for couples who enjoy the real tuscany, not for the usual beach/torist locations. just sit back and enjoy the laid back tuscany. we love it....

Room Tip: All of tuscany hotels (not 5 Star included0 are very basic but realy clean and comfortable.don't...

We have just got back from a two week stay at the Astoria - we enjoyed it very much. The hotel and its common areas exude old world charm. It is clean and tidy, though our bedroom was starting to look in need of redecoration (a minor point). The service was excellent - as was the food - and we hardly had a repeat in the whole 2 weeks. All the staff were helpful and polite and some tried hard to make you feel special. The pool is also a a very positive experience - plenty of sun loungers to go round and a good poolside service. Montecatini Terme is an excellent base for travelling to nearby Florence, Pisa, Lucca etc - especially by train, though I felt the resort itself is a little 'touristy'.
