Step back in time to old world charm. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Great position within the town, you would think you were in the country but are only a short stroll from bars and restaurants. The rooms we had were slightly dated but the charm, size and view from the balcony made you forgive. Additionally the outdoor pool area is great. With the addition of the free parking I would definitely use again.

Easy and free parking next to hotel. Initial entrance to hotel very nice with dining area to the right. Very helpful man took luggage to two rooms located on different floors. A room for three on the top floor was very poor. Bed incredibly uncomfortable and a double was just 2 singles put together (not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel). Walls were very dirty with lots of marking on. Windows single pane meaning every time bathroom light was on the windows would rattle very loudly. Breakfast was okah but nothing special. I would not rate this hotel as a 4 star

This is a tough review to write because there was some great things about this hotel and then there were some things that were a bit hit and miss. Things I really liked: the position, breakfast was quite good, our rooms were varied in standard but overall satisfactory, there was a pool and easy parking. The man who helped us with our bags when we arrived was pleasant as was the young girl on reception and the ladies at breakfast.
Would I stay here again? Not sure actually. It was good but I didn't leave with 100% positivity about the experience, but it wasn't bad.

My wife and I stayed at the Astoria for six nights in September 2017. I have read some of the previous reviews and disagree with many. We found the hotel exactly as described on their website and were very happy with the slight step back in time in respect of the styling of the building etc and most impressed by the contemporary service delivered by a hard working, polite and respectful staff. Most impressive was that the owners were present each day and could be seen sampling food and applying the occasional guiding hand to the tiller of their pride and joy. It is true to say that the hotel is in need of some updating in some places but it is also plain to see that this is happening and is something that takes time. Although we didn't try the pool, as we were unlucky with weather, it is a fine facility which is well maintained together with the surrounding gardens and grounds. Fresh flowers, polished floors, mirrors etc, a warm welcome all help to reassure the newly arrived guest. The location was perfect for us as we were able to 'day trip' both as part of organised tours and of our own volition. We would definitely visit again.

We visited this hotel through Inghams for a two week stay, and its typical Italian old world charm suited us perfectly. We had room 98 on the 3rd floor with a great view of Montecatini Alto - with a good sized balcony. The room was spacious with a huge double wardrobe, lots of hangers - plenty of drawer space - exactly what we needed when staying with 2 weeks lots of clothes. So while it is a little shabby chic, the furniture perfectly compliments the age of the hotel and we very much admired the lovely lighting that can be seen throughout the hotel. Each day there were clean fluffy bath towels, and the sheets were changed almost every other day. We booked half board, and it is necessary to embrace the silver service offered at dinner for what it is, and accept it as part of the hotel's old world charm. In our opinion the food was excellent with generous portions, but the menu does not describe it well so for some people this could be a little off-putting. I recommend to anyone reading this and due to visit the hotel that they give it a try and you may be pleasantly surprised at just how delicious the food is. I should mention that this is our 9th holiday in Italy, so we have learned to adapt to the Italian way of doing things and all in all, were delighted with our stay.

Room Tip: Room 98 was very spacious and sunny in the morning/cool in the afternoon with a balcony and great view.
