We just knew that our experience at Mueble Il Riccio would be wonderful. We had done our research and saw all the reviews here as well. It did not disappoint! The Hotel is utterly charming and the small guest house appeal was very luxurious. Our room was quite big with very beautiful antique furnishing and spotlessly clean. Our hosts were warm and wonderful and Ivana's breakfast was everything you have read about and more. She makes her own pastries and there is no description to fit a home made item like that served warm to a morning guest. It felt like we were in a private chateau. We only wish we could have stayed longer! If you have the chance, do not pass up this beautiful little city and especially this hotel.

This small, 6 room, hotel was the best hotel experience during our 3 week trip in Europe. Gio and his wife Ivana are wonderful people who make you feel like you are invited personal guests to their home verses customers. The hotel, rooms, breakfast, and hospitality were all "over the top". We wish we could have stayed longer or become a adopted family members of this wonderful family. Don't miss out on Ivana's fresh homemade breakfast tarts, they are exceptional.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the Piazza Grande and we were very happy with it.

The building dates back to the 1200s, I believe, but it is meticulously maintained by the owners Gio and Ivana. The view from our room was breathtaking; we could see about 25 miles of Tuscany. Gio was very accomodating. He suggested local restaurants for the 2 nights we were there. They were both outstanding. And the breakfast...Ask Ivana which pastries she baked herself and then eat them! They are the best! Staying here is a wonderfully unique experience. You won't be disappointed.

Our second stay at the Meuble il Riccio earlier this month was every bit as enjoyable as the first, three years ago. Gio and Ivana are most gracious hosts, and Simona could not have been more helpful in assisting us with dinner reservations and transportation to the train station. Ivana's breakfasts are wonderful and include everything from cereals, juices, warm croissants, fresh bread, salami, cheese and an assortment of Ivana's great homemade cakes and tortes. The rooms, while typically not huge, are more than adequate and are furnished with crisp white quilted bedspreads and simple white curtains -- very charming. As an added bonus, the il Riccio has a roof-top terrace that offers spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside and is set with bistro tables for having morning coffee or maybe some evening vino. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when I visit Montepulciano.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Tuscan countryside. Awesome.

This is a great B&B in a fantastic central location in Montepulciano, the rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. The building itself is historic and has a fantastic courtyard when you initially enter, the main breakfast and sitting room is also very impressive.
There is dedicated parking included with the stay, which is very handy. The views from the rooftop terrace are breathtaking and its a great place to sit for a while and relax.

The service is also great, the proprietors, Gio and Ivana, are very friendly and helpful in every respect. Ivana's home baked cakes at breakfast were especially appreciated!

Gio advised me that il Riccio means hedgehog in English. So this may explain the prevalence of a fair few ornamental & toy hedgehogs throughout (I didn't see any real ones...)!

After pushing our fully loaded touring bicycles up the steep hills of this stunning ancient town, we were delighted to discover a beautifully appointed and romantic hotel on top of the world of Montepulciano! Our view over the rooftops was spectacular. Breakfast was delish! Gio and Ivana were gracious hosts and they even helped us to plan the next leg of our journey. We can't wait to return and hope to stay longer next time.

Stayed 3 days in Montepulciano in August. This Hotel/BB was THE BEST! A stunningly gourgeous property in historic town, beautifully and classically appointed. Large and comfortable rooms--very clean-super breakfast-located just a half block off major town square. Designated parking just a few blocks from hotel. Awesome view from rooftop patio--great for an evening picnic (if you can tear yourself away from local restaurants). Very friendly and helpful hosts. We loved this place and Motepulciano.

Room Tip: We were right behind the office (only used during the day) off the breakfast room. It was quiet and...
