“Wonderful Hotel in Montepulciano”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

We had a fabulous time here. We stayed in one of the Riccio suites; this room was more expensive but was worth the extra cost. It was huge, with a high ceiling, lots of windows and a large bathroom (with a tub!!), not to mention lots of historic Tuscan charm. Our suite included a private vestibule that opened to the courtyard with a fabulous view of the valley below, but even with this the room was very quiet. We opted for breakfast there each morning, and it was delicious and convenient for starting our day. In addition to the property's beauty/history/convenience, the owners are also wonderful! They are very nice, helpful and provide excellent assistance and recommendations for exploring the surrounding area. Even though you get personalized service, they aren't overbearing and we never felt like we were intruding in their home. We truly enjoyed our visit here and can't recommend it enough!

What a beautiful Hotel. We wish we could spend a month there. Gio and Ivana treated us like family. Ivana cooks the breakfast and it was the best buffet of homemade croissants, cakes and muffins in Italy. Our room was clean and quiet. And we cannot say enough for the town of Montelpulciano. Wow

Room Tip: Book early and get a view room...

Montepulciano is one of the most beautiful towns in Tuscany. Meuble il Riccio made it magical. The staff were friendly and very helpful, eager to answer any questions. The location was just off the main square on a medieval street that could have come out of a fairytale. My wife and I spent three nights in "Gio's house", and we could not have been happier. We had the room with its own terrace overlooking the courtyard, with additonal windows giving views of either the town of the amazing countryside. The breakfast is extra but well worth it - there is a certain pleasure associated with waking up to a nice cappuccino with a smiley face on it. The common room was full of family pictures and oddities, making it fun to explore. The bedroom features were the perfect mix of old and new, from the beamed ceilings to the modern bathroom. Staying here and enjoying this wonderful town was the highlight of our trip.

Room Tip: It's a wonderful place to stay.

Large, beautiful room and a large bathroom. Upgraded room with deck was right next to the main entry/breakfast room. Was fine off season but can see that being an issue if a lot of guests. Free parking was a huge bonus. Deck had a beautiful view. Breakfast NOT included, though. AND...no hot water the last day. Unfortunately, that definitely left a sour taste in our mouth as we departed. I can completely understand it COULD be a fantastic place to stay...just wasn't worth the upgraded price, in our opinion, if you are going to be out and about. Maybe it would be if you're going to be hanging out on the deck a lot.

Room Tip: upgrading room to a deck is pricey...while quite nice, probably only worth it if not going to be out...

Dear Neruda11,
Thank you for your review. Sorry for the inconvenience of the hot water, but as we said early in the morning to all our clients, it was a failure, occurred in a few hours.
As for breakfast, we would like to point out the fact that with the booking confirmation you have been informed that there was an extra charge of € 8,00 per person.
Arrivederci by Giò and Ivana

We adored staying at Meuble il Riccio, and wished we could have spent more than 1 night there. Ivana and Gio were so welcoming and accommodating, and they call the B&B their "home," which makes it a very special place to stay. The view from our room onto the countryside was absolutely stunning--we could have sat there for hours and just looked out. The location of the B&B is also perfect as it's off Piazza Grande, the main piazza in Montepulciano. Gio recommended a couple of restaurants to us while we were in town, and they were both excellent. Overall, a wonderful experience.

The most beautiful place in all of Italy. The views are spectacular. The rooms are large, clean and beautifully decorated. The room with the balcony is worth the extra cost. We had wine, chesse and salami overlooking the most beautiful hills we've ever seen. Ivana and Simone were very helpful and made reservations where ever we wanted to go. We're dreaming about our next trip there.
