Our stay at Ortaglia was outstanding! The grounds are beautiful with a gorgeous pool and fantastic views. the rooms have all the necessary amenities while still maintaining old world charm, but most importantly they are very clean. Terenzio and Mara are friendly, speak English well, and are very helpful. Terenzio took time to give us detailed directions for us to tour around the valley and had many great suggestions for what to see and do. We highly recomend the cooking class.
P.S. my wife and I travel often, but This is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review....Ortaglia was that good.

When you think of Tuscany, you think of rolling green hills dotted with vineyard, fields of sunflowers and golden wheat being harvested. And the hill towns. The gorgeous hill towns. Relais Ortaglia was the perfect base to explore Tuscany. And the perfect relaxing environment to recover from busy days. Laying by the pool and looking at the fields, picking fruit off the trees, and being fed delicious breakfasts and meals by the hosts were just a few of the many memories we will have. It's a beautiful property and postcard-perfect.

The only downside is their terrific wines are not exportable to MA! And their unbelievably delicious olive oil isn't exportable at all.

If you are looking for an elegant, yet warm and friendly place to call home in Tuscany, visit Relais Ortaglia. The rooms are lovely, and there are breathtaking views from every window and viewpoint. The hosts Terenzio and Mara are so friendly. We did cooking lessons for two night meals and have the most wonderful food and learned things we will try to replicate at home. Terenzio is well versed in the history of the area and provides stories that will both educate and entertain. Whether lounging at the pool, eating figs and pears from the garden, wandering in the vineyard, or sipping the wine made right here at the estate, this is heaven in Tuscany.

Room Tip: The room apart from the main house has wifi in the room.

Our stay at Relais Ortaglia was definitely one of the highlights of our vacation. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast had a great variety of home made hot and cold items so that each day you were able to enjoy something different. The location is perfect whether you are planning day trips to the many historic sites in this area or if you decide to just spend the day relaxing by the pool. This is a very special place and Mara and Terenzio are the ultimate hosts. Their knowledge of the area and their hospitality will make any traveler feel like they are at home in one of the most beautiful settings on earth. We enjoyed our stay so much that we came back to stay an extra day on our way to Rome. We have recommended Relais Ortaglia to our family and friends and we will definitely return.

We are discriminating travelers and found Ortaglia to exceed all of our expectations. From the friendly treatment, the beautiful grounds and views to the relentless attentiveness to our needs, Terencio and Mara could of not been better hosts. We were there with our three children age 27, 23 and 13 and all found a home with them. I can't express in words how amazing this place is and I am extremely particular. I look for cleanliness, flexibility, openness to new cultures, mutual respect and family values. I believe this place is particularly suited to those who wish to tour the close towns nearby as Terencio loves to practice his English and give you detailed instructions on where to go and how to get there. All local knowledge. He also produces and distributes some amazing wines and loves to share them. I rarely go to the same location twice, but this is a rare experience. The location is superb and Montepulciano was one of the most magical towns we experienced and we drove every day to a new area. I can't rate Ortaglia high enough. I was truly sad to leave but we shall return someday and I will bring Terencio some California Cabs to try.

We ended up at this place by accident, luckily!!!
Everything has been said in previous comments...
Beautiful place, friendly people, great breakfast, everything was just amazing.
The view at sunset of the typical Tuscany landcape from the pool was priceless!

“Between Arts and Paridise”. This certainly is the most appropriate way to describe the location of our farmhouse. In fact ORTAGLIA is casted towards the art of Montepulciano, with its roofs which show all the shades of garnet red, and the dome of San Biagio, third in the word for wideness and significance. On the same time the hill where the farmhouse stands out is plunged into the tranquillity and the charm of the tuscan countryside, muse of famous artists and poets. On the top of this hill, between art and paradise, in the middle of seventeen century have been laid the foundations of the ORTAGLIA farmhouse. ... more   less
