“A wonderful stay”
Reviewed 26 December 2013

We arrived with 2 children; a three and a half year old and a baby of 6 months and had a great time! The hotel is beautiful and every detail is thought of. All is done to make you and your baby/little child comfortable and to also be able to enjoy some time alone or with your spouse. The food is very good with a wide range of choices for all ages. All the facilities are very clean and the staff is helpful and welcoming.
We're planning to return next year again!

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor in a family suit; quite and comfortable.

Although the hotel itself is really beautiful, we obviously had the wrong expectations. The room was very nice, food amazing. But our two year old son refused to stay at child care, though they tried their best, so we had him with us at diner every night. Most of the other kids were running around, yelling at each other and right after the main course was served, the mascot Lino arrived. Of course the kid immediately stopped eating and wanted to join him - so we had to interrupt diner and eat a cold main course. Every evening!
Our main problem though was that we couldn´t get more than a few hours of sleep. We asked for a quiet room on booking and on arrival. We were told that our suit would face the historic center and would therefore be one of the more quiet rooms.
First night -thursday - there was live music in the bar right under our room. Really loud, till about two o´clock in the morning.
Friday morning half past five garbage disposal in the street right in front of our window. Everyone wide awake!
Friday night there´s disco night in the bar on the other side of the small street. Not only can you hear the music in the room but due to the fact that smoking is prohibited in the bar they all come out to smoke (and yell at each other since they are deaf from the music) right in front of our room.
Saturday morning six o´clock: Food delivery to the hotel right under our window.
Saturday night: another disco night till three o´clock
Sunday: marching band through the historic city (eight o´clock sharp)
It may have just been bad luck but we wanted to recreate - we left feeling and looking like zombies.
I´m aware that I may sound spoiled and petty, but we spent a lot of money there, so I expect the best - and it wasn´t.

My wife and I are not new to Ortisei/St. Ulrich but we used to go to the Gardena.
There is actually no competition between the two since the Gardena is wonderful for couple or singles with no kinds, the Cavallino Bianco is just perfect for families with kids.
It is unbelievable to think it is a 400-guest hotel where almost at all times 50% are kinds and they make it work like a Swiss clock.
They have thought about everything from the big things (fun areas for babies and for teenagers, always guarded and taken care of by the specialized nannies, swimming pools with slides, etc..), to the small things (stairs for the kids to reach the basin to wash their teeth, wet napkins in the rooms, bathrobes in all sizes for the kids, etc…)
Their website is a work of art as it can answer to all questions (it just gets a bit difficult when it is time to go through all the offers and packages) and can show you all parts of the hotel.
Very conveniently located both to the center and to the ski lifts.
The food is great although, having to cater for so many people with different needs, it is not a wide in variety as the Gardena’s
They also highly value prevention of any kind of sickness with disinfectant stations throughout the hotel
You can rent free of charge the trolley for all your kids and there is a kitchenette available 24/7 for all your milk/etc needs
At the end they even give you alarm clocks that will play forever (!!) the Cavallino Bianco soundtrack you will have by then learned to perfection.
Covered parking available at no charge but you will see the SPA they make available to you (massages, saunas, swimming pools with different water temps, etc…)
Except the huge array of specific massages performed at the SPA, which are not cheap, all swimming pools are included in the room price
This hotel is created for those couples who want to share some alone moments knowing their little loved ones are taken care of properly and having fun.
So just make sure your kids will be ready to stay with the nannies because if you will end up having them with you 24/7, it will be nice but it will just defeat the purpose of this hotel.
I was pleased by the atmosphere which was happy thanks to the many sweet kinds running around but all parents were also looking at each other in deep understanding of what all of us were gaining and missing at the same time because we knew we were “all on the same boat”.
If I MUST find a slip in this otherwise perfect hotel, it would be the lack of proper radiators in the room on which you can dry your bathrobes (considering you will be most of your time around saunas and pools) and the prices which in high season are through the roof.

Room Tip: I suggest the Family Suite on the top floor for a great view and a separate room for the kids

We spent a week in September at Cavallino Bianco. The hotel is well maintained and pretty geared up for families. The linoland is well run and the spas and pools are great. The staff are very friendly and helpful and they are probably one of the strengths of the hotel. Parking facilities are decent enough and once you exit from the hotel's main entrance you are bang in Ortisei's main pedestrian road. Access to Le Alpi di Susi is very close by. The food was generally of a good quality and abundant enough. The only issue we had was that some of the rooms are designed laterally in a manner where the only thing between the bed's headboard and the corridor is a gypsum partition. This can be a little annoying with children running through the corridor at night. The only other suggestion is that the hotel invests at least in fans. It was exceptionally good weather during our stay and the room temperatures at night were verging on the warmish side. This explains why the proper rating should be 4.5....

However would we go again? - definitely.

Last week of Aug we had the Cavallino Bianco experience.
Actually it is not easy to comment such a successful hotel with such amount of excellent review. I will try to be unbiased. At our arrival not being familiar with viability we did enter through the parking and there we were welcomed by a bellboy but actually arrival was a slow procedure... from the car park we wait something more than 5 min for a lift... At the beginning we were disappointed hoping that waiting time for the lift would not be the same for the rest of the holiday. We did arrive at 14:30 but check in is at 15:00 and the room was ready at 15:20... Not big issue actually, we enjoyed the snack break.
We did book a classic room, clean, in order with a big terrace with two beach lounger overall nice room, but it was supposed to be provided with both bathtub and stand up shower but due to the gambrel roof shower was basically unreal. The courtesy/vanity kit is miserable. Hand soap and shampoo are distributed in comfortable bottles wall fastened but is same soap for your hair and for feet. The view on the Alpe di Siusi was beautiful. Hotel is very much clean and attended. People are generally kind and welcoming. Restaurant and food in general is between average and good depending on the day, all waiters very helpful and welcoming... Sometimes even too much. Swimming pool area is excellent, gymnasium is excellent. Linoland and all the services related to childhood are very good. Everything is very much focus of the children and this is what you pay actually. Our child was 20 months and actually still you cannot enjoy at max level the offered entertainment. Best is to come to Cavallino with your children between 4/5 years and 10/11 years. Overall we spent a very good week... You come to Cavallino to enjoy time with your family and at the end of story you forget about the small imperfection and... the price! Overall very good.

The location is the best spot in town. It is steps from the gondola and all the cafes and restaurants. The hotel itself was beautiful. Gorgeous furnishings, art, and carpets. We loved the design of our hotel room with the private nook for the kids to sleep with a door for privacy. Luxurious beds and plenty of space in the bedroom. Pools are gorgeous. Meals are fine - lots of choices in the buffet and elegant multi-course dinners. The food got repetitive and too heavy for us. We only stayed 2 days and felt ready for different dining options.

The resort really was beautiful and high end but it did not seem like it was designed for kids (more fit for adults). Safety issues all over the pool like a huge metal seat in the middle of the pool with no markings, sharp edges in the new pool, slippery floor inside with sloppy steps, and a swim through door to a DARK indoor pool. There is a cool sand box area steps from the pool. So us and several other families had to do battle with the kids not to go back and forth so they didn't drag sand in. The bathrooms are just silly. No stools, high counters, out of reach soap that was impossible to get out of the cheap wall dispenser, etc. So our independent 5 year old couldn't be independent. There was a lack of kid friendliness like lower bathrobe hooks, lower sinks, colorful kid "fun" decor, kid contests, kid art, etc. Dinners were long so when we wanted to be with our kids for dinner it was awful. No puzzles, no toys, no coloring books, no play area, no movie room. We were puzzled a kid hotel didn't have any distractions for the kids for a multi course dinner. The Lino land was just okay. Lots of limitations. The outdoor playground is hard to get to, the 2nd floor play area is closed all the time. The activities were limited. We met another family and talked about how beautiful the resort was but with the extremely high price, we all felt we could barely leave the hotel so we could get our value from the included meals and kids club. So that is my final point, know if you go all the way to this fabulous town with so many great things to do and places to eat, it is hard to leave the hotel to do them. We stayed in Ortisei a month after Cavallino and loved loved loved the town.

We would stay again and we would recommend but only for
shorter stays or longer stays for people that don't mind missing the included meals and missing the kids club. Note for families: hike Val danna to Annatal. 2 playgrounds, beautiful hike, great restaurant!

We (my wife, 2 kids, my mother and I) stayed one week (Aug 4-11) at Cavallina Bianco. All in all excellent. New facilities make value for money even better than last year. Service (already good last year) markedly improved. Only suggestion (but we are getting into details here) would be to strengthen WiFi in the room

Great hoteal, great stay, great memories. Highly reccomended

Room Tip: All rooms are very nice
