In March 2012 we stayed at Avita Suits for a week. The suite itself was finished to a high standard and very comfortable. The owners, Marcel ans Irene, were very hospitable, and gave us any information we asked. The suites are located right in the centre of the beautiful town of Ortisei. Marcel and Irene, thanks for a great week.

First thing we found was how ideal the location of Avita was within the town of Ortisei. Second was the immaculate suite itself. And third, and most unique and impressive, was the care and time given to us by the owner, Marcel. He gave us an orientation upon our arrival- giving us many valuable insights to the activities and things to see in the area. He even took all his renters on a sunset hike one evening that ended with a spectacular view of the town. I would certainly highly recommend staying here and would certainly return someday. Thanks Marcel for the great experience. Liz and Brad.

We were very happy with our one week stay at Avita - suites to relax (Fuoco suite) in July 2012. Marcel was a friendly and attentive host. He gave a useful introduction session on the first evening (things to do, good places to eat, interesting local background of the area) where we were nicely surprised with the included extras - free entrance to the open air pool and indoor pool complex for the whole week (value about 100 euros), offer of a guided evening hike to catch the sunset, plus discounts on various activities the region had to offer. It was my birthday during our stay, and I even received a bottle of prosecco and homemade cake on the day from Marcel and Irene! That was an extra nice touch (and delicious).

The accommodation was spacious, nicely furnished with comfortable beds and a well-equipped kitchenette. Perfect situation in the middle of Ortisei but on a quiet cul-de-sac - less than two minutes to the nearest shops / bars / cafes (and a bakery right next door).

We found plenty of things to do in Val Gardena, and particularly enjoyed the two via ferratas that we did (second one a tip from Marcel), the walking in the mountains (the cable car ticket is definitely worthwhile) and relaxing at the open air pool in the afternoons.

All in all, a great trip, and we'll most likely be returning in the future.

Avita Relax is undoubtedly the best apartment rental experience we’ve had over the past years we’ve visited and rented in the Dolomites. We have nothing negative to say about it and agree with absolutely every positive thing that’s been written in the Trip Advisor reviews. I will add that the kitchen was particularly wonderful in that there was plenty counter-working space to cook a full meal…a rare find. Marcel and Irene are terrific, friendly, welcoming, helpful, accommodating, and absolutely professional. It was a fabulous experience and a wonderful week.

We highly recommend it.

We arrived at Avita with high expectations: previous reviews were so strong that we delayed our arrival in Val Gardena by a few days so we could stay at Avita rather than some traditional hotel or guesthouse.

We could not have been more thrilled: Avita was one of our favorite lodgings in our ten-month Round-The-World journey. Comfortable beds, excellent duvets, clean modern design with lots of natural wood, very usable kitchen, tons of light (and excellent window shades), gorgeous lobby, and wonderful host, Marcel.

Marcel met us at the bus station and helped us get situated, explaining how everything worked and offering tips on hikes and getting around Val Gardena. He explained how the week-long lift passes worked and offered to take us on one of his favorite hikes. The local mountain guides, Catores, are also available for free guided hikes 5 days/week (thanks to Avita's participation in the "Val Gardena Active" program). Of course Marcel, being a great host, also had local hiking guidebooks available for us to borrow, along with a good collection of DVD's.

The laundry facilities were excellent and welcome, and the internet was very reliable. A bakery is literally next door, so we had wonderful breakfasts in our suite each morning before going out for long day-hikes. And the complimentary admission to the fancy Mar Dolimiti pool complex made my wife super happy: we swam there as often as we could.

In fact, though we only planned to stay a week (in the Fuoco suite), we quickly decided to double our stay and spent a second week in a different suite (Aria). Though smaller, it was just as lovely; plenty of space for a couple. I'd happily stay in any of the four suites.

Of course, Avita is not a full-service hotel; if you want a front desk and a breakfast buffet, choose a traditional hotel instead. Personally, I'd always choose a wonderful modern, comfortable apartment like Avita over a cramped room at a fancy hotel, and I've had far too many mediocre breakfast buffets! Throughout our stay, Marcel was always responsive to our questions and requests; nothing whatsoever was lacking in hospitality.

In short, Avita made us feel like we had a wonderful home in Ortisei, a perfect base camp for the region's hiking/climbing adventures. Of all the destinations we've visited during this year's journey, Val Gardena (and Avita) is the one that we're most likely to revisit.

Room Tip: All are excellent options, really. Upstairs gets lots of direct sun, pro or con depending on your view.
