Speaking a little Italian can be dangerous thing but with Maria, in the beautiful city of Orvieto, all's well that ends well. I phoned Maria, as she requested, when we arrived in Orvieto. I tried to tell her that we were at the bottom of the funiculare but she thought we were at the top. A few phone calls later and a rather slow ascent we finally emerged, Maria greeting us with a happy and understanding smile, all the frustrations forgotten. In my broken Italian and her broken English we chatted all the way in her car to here lovely B@B, an old building in the Piazza di Popolo. The renovated rooms are very nice, comfortable and nicely appointed. The location is convenient to all the major attractions. And, of course, Maria is just simply a wonderful innkeeper. A great experience.
