B&B La Casa di Tufo
Ranked #11 of 54 Orvieto B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 19 April 2014

We were very happy with our choice of La Casa di Tufo. It is located on a tiny quiet street within easy walking distance to all the sights in Orvieto. We had an upstairs room which was spacious and comfortable. The nights were silent and the bed was great, so we slept really well. We needed to stand by our door or use the common room in order to get a wireless internet connection, but that was probably an inevitable consequence of being in an old stone building. The B&B has been exquisitely renovated to offer guests a beautiful combination of old architecture and modern convenience.

I was surprised to learn that many people only spend one night in Orvieto. We stayed 3 nights, and it wasn't long enough to see everything we wanted to see. Orvieto has a lot to offer, and it is definitely worth staying more than one night and seeing more than the admittedly amazing Duomo.

Jasmin is a great hostess. She is multilingual, and she provided us with lots of useful information. One of the best suggestions was to try the bakery around the corner. We have eaten a lot of pizza, but this bakery has the best pizza I have ever tasted. Also amazing cookies.

Getting there was easy, following Jasmin's instructions. We took the funicular from the train, and then the bus (which is what we would call a mini-bus or large van) to a square which is just a block or so from the B&B.

I hope to return to Orvieto one day, and I would be happy to stay at this B&B again.

The owner, Jasmin, provided a quiet place to stay in this beautiful town. We visited in mid-February and were rewarded with uncrowded streets, fantastic restaurants, and mostly sunny weather. The B&B is conveniently located on the western edge of the town, just the right distance from the more touristy areas around the Duomo. Jasmin provides a large breakfast and will make you any kind of coffee drink to go with it. My partner is gluten-free and Jasmin provided GF pastries for her, very thoughtful! Guests are allowed to use the kitchen area for cooking meals, and two other guests took advantage of this feature. We stayed in "Stella" room which had generous closet space, refrigerator, couch, table, and a big bathroom with spa-type shower. The bed was large and very comfortable. If you like TV, there are many satellite channels in multiple languages. We had a lovely view over the back garden, and of the hills beyond the medieval rooftops. Even though there were other guests, our room was quiet. Jasmin gave good recommendations for places to eat, and she told us about a beautiful walk out into the countryside where we saw Etruscan tombs. We also walked the route around Orvieto. We will definitely stay here again and explore more of the beautiful Umbrian countryside.

We were in Orvieto from Nov. 15 to Dec. 15, and stayed at Casa di Tufo for the entire stay. This is an extremely clean & lovely B&B. Jasmine is a special host who did everything to make our stay comfortable & enjoyable. The place has a new feel about it, even though it's in a medieval building. Very close to the very center of Orvieto. We hope to return next year and enjoy Jasmine's hospitality once more.

We loved Orvieto and this little B&B was a nice surprise. It looks like the owner, Jasmine, put years of work into restoring the property and it came out beautifully modern and tasteful with all the charm and mystery of Orvieto architecture intact. We stayed there with our two young daughters quite comfortably. The huge bathroom was fun. Breakfast was lovely. The location was perfect for us- quiet and convenient. We stayed two nights and then moved on but we would have stayed longer: certainly the price is right! (Orvieto isn't as expensive as most places on our itinerary) This place looks and feels like Jasmine could be charging more. I hope she doesn't because we want to go back!

We arrived in Orvieto via train , then funicular to top of the hill then a uphill walk through old town to B&B La Casa di Tufo. When you are met at the front door by your Host "Jasmine" you know you are going to love this place. The rooms are large with 3 to choose from. The shared meeting room is used for breakfast , happy hour etc. There is free WIFI . The shower is from outer space. It is worth the price of the room. The breakfast was fresh every day and included scrambled eggs with ham , rolls , coffee or tea. Walking distance to the bus ,funicular and many tourist spots. Also bus to "Civita" is very handy. The train runs a regular schedule to and from Rome from Orvieto.

Room Tip: All 3 rooms are good size and comfortable. There is also an apartment available for longer stays. W...

We stayed in the Stella room. We only had one night but it was great. Good location. Close enough to the hilltop sights of Orvieto but away from the noise of all those other humans! Easy to find with the Maps With Me app.

La Casa di Tufo is a great home away from home for any stay -- one night or one month, which was our choice. Jasmina and her daughter are friendly and helpful with information on Orvieto and the surrounding area. The location is perfect, on a quiet street but a short walk to the town's unique museums and other attractions. We will be back next year.
