“A wonderful experience”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

We were welcomed by Giuila, after a harrowing rail experience from Rome. It is a bit hard to find, but the good directions on the website were helpful. We arrived around 11am, our room wasn't ready, but we sat in the reception area for 10 minutes until the cleaning was completed. We were then allowed to have the room, which was very welcome. The b&b has a wonderful feel about it. Very recently refurbished and looks & feels very homely. We had the blue room overlooking the very narrow front street. No noise once the doors were shut, but there is a small balcony which allows you to view over the rooftops to the surrounding countryside. The room is of ample proportions with a large bathroom with shower. The shower was large with a rainhead, very nice after a days walking the amazing town itself. Breakfast was delightful also with plenty of options, including freshly cooked eggs. We have nothing but praise for the way Giuila ran the B&B.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms would be a delight to stay in. They all have some sort of view and look very comfor...

We initially booked B&B Michelangeli and were recommended here as the owner found herself double booked. The front desk is not constantly manned, so we had to inform our arrival time. Someone is usually there in the morning though. Francesca welcomed us and was a great help in giving recommended places to eat and where to get bus tickets to Civita di Bagnoregio.
The B&B is a fairly long walk from the funicular station, around 15 min with slight uphill, maybe 20 min with luggage. It is not as far as the Duomo. Good thing that it is actually walkable is because the bus from the funicular which takes you to places nearer the Duomo is always crowded and fills up fast. Seemed quite challenging to carry bags and squeeze in.
We had a double room which was quite spacious. The shower door leaks so once we bathe, the toilet floor is wet. Other than that, the place is quaint, typical of buildings in Orvieto with its underground cellar.

Room Tip: Generally the rooms seem to be quite spacious. We stayed in the one facing the street/alley and it i...

This B&B has shady pricing practices. We booked a few months ahead of our visit. We reserved the "Suite with One King and One Single Bed" for my family of three. 2 weeks before arrival, I emailed to confirm. The response back was that the listing was wrong and they don't have a King with Single room for price reserved. It took 4 days to get the reply, which gave me just 2 days left on the "free cancellation" period. We were told that to have the advertised room, it would be an additional 30 Euro, which we could have at a discount of 25 Euro. This bait & switch practice was not agreeable, so I found another hotel and cancelled. Now, a month later, the B&B stlll has exact same room description. Be prepared for a bait & switch at this B&B.

We arrived on Easter weekend in the rain after a long drive, and encountered some communication issues with finding the hotel and a time when the hostess was available after our original timetable slipped by a couple of hours. Giulia was very nice, but other than the eventual check-in and breakfast, she was nowhere to be found. The B&B itself has a very grand feel with plenty of interesting art and decor. The rooms were clean, but we did find it challenging to keep all of the water inside the shower. There was a nice view from the balcony. The city and the fascinating well museum each were only a short walk away. I will give the service issues the benefit of the doubt under the circumstances, but this was still only a good-but-not-great B&B experience.

We found Orvieto after leaving a very crowded Sienna. This amazing town captivated us and we decided to stay. I called Guilia and was we were lucky to get her last of three rooms. She offered to meet us at the parking lot as we had to walk through the medieval streets to get to the place.
We were so blown away by the charm and beautiful renovation and restoration of this home. Our room was so clean and the bathroom modern and large. Guilia gave us directions to restaurants and took the time to give us information on the town. We woke up to a home cooked meal that was delicious. We wish we could have spent a week in the B&B. We will definitely go back and have recommended Sant'Angelo to a few of our friends and family who will be travelling to Italy next Spring.

B&B Sant' Angelo 42 is a hidden gem in the wondeful Umbrian hill town of Orvieto. We made this B&B our home base for five nights while we toured the area by car. The B&B is lovely and quiet, with only three rooms. We stayed in the suite on the top floor. The room is very large, with a large bathroom with jetted tub, beautful hardwood floors, and large closet space. It has two small balconies with views of the Umbrian hills over the rooftops of Orvieto. If you try, you can find a view of the Duomo from the bathroom window. I wish I could have taken the memory foam bed home with me - it was that comfortable! Also, the entire place was extremely clean.

Giulia was simply wonderful. Extremely pleasant and very helpful. She helped us find some great restaurants in Orvieto, and set up a private tour of a local winery for us. She makes the breakfast herself every day. The breakfast was a little larger than the typical Italian breakfast, and included, toast, hard-boiled eggs, coffee, cappucino or latte, fresh fruit and juice, cereal, pastries...

Overall, I think this place is a STEAL for the price - and would be great value at double the price, in my opinion. I highly recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: The suite is definitely the room to get.

We were so excited to make our way to Orvieto after the hustle and bustle of Rome. We were so pleased when we arrived. Yes the B&B is quaint, but it is fabulous and spacious! We arrived mid-afternoon and everything was as expected. We had let Giulia know about those that would be in our party (there were 8 in total), and she had a baby bed prepared for our youngest. This was such a nice surprise, as we hadn't even thought to ask.

The B&B is nicely located right towards the middle of town, and there is a great cafe that stays open late just one block away. Giulia took care of everything for us. We asked for a last minute winery tour, she arranged it. We asked for a last minute cooking class, she arranged it. This was actually the most fun we had in Orvieto. Two of Giulia's friends came over, and cooked us the most amazing meal! For a very reasonable rate (much lower than other options) we had a 4 course, elaborate meal and all the wine we could drink. Everyone was completely full! It was so fun learning to make pasta, and it's a practice that we continue to this day!

Some of our party had to make changes to their itinerary, and Giulia was so kind to call and speak with anyone necessary to facilitate the change in plans.

I will say that Giulia is still learning the business, but she's eager to learn! There may be things you need to ask for, or that she doesn't do automatically...but if you ask, then your wish is her command! She was very reasonable priced, and even gave us a last minute discount on our room rate by not charging us for the extra person in one of the rooms. We absolutely loved our stay, and will definitely return one day.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor are quieter.
