“Bascic and clean”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2013

We stayed one night on our way home from Southern Italy as it's near the motorway. Rooms are a good size and clean but need to be brought up to date. Our room was at the back and you could hear the trains although rooms at the front must hear the main road. Area is shabby but safe. We ate in the hotel restaurant and it was ok. Breakfast was ok. Overall it served it's purpose for us but a bit over priced and I would recommend for a stay longer than one night.

We stayed 1 night here in order to visit Oriveto.

The hotel is away from the historic town, but very easy to get to from the main roads and it has loads of parking. The immediate sourroundings are a bit shabby but the hotel is clean and as many people say ~ reasonably basic. Access to the old city is easy - theres a massive free car park by the railway stn 5 min drive away and a funicular railwy car up to the city for 1 euro (we didnt attempt to drive up to the old town).

We arrived Sunday evening and the receptionist didnt speak English but did ok. The rooms are comfy enough, but there is the main railway line right behind the hotel which is a bit noisy. Wifi is via some limited time ticket which is fiddly and didnt last our time there. We were unlucky and got a room next to the lift so doubly noisy.

Breakfast was ok - usual Itallian buffet but not the best out there.

All in all it's ok - its clean, reasonably comfy, and sufficed for what we wanted ~ but a tad pricey and lacks any real charachter.

We had spent the week in Tuscany and were leaving from Rome the next day. All the Rome hotels seemed to be full, so we stayed in this hotel in Orvieto -- about 1.5 hours north of Rome. The immediate surroundings of the hotel are off-putting - it's right on the highway and not anywhere near the scenic historic part of Orvieto. The room was clean but spartan, although it had a refrigerator (disguised nicely as a piece of furniture). The hotel is located in the general area of a number of good sites. We had already toured Orvieto when we traveled to Tuscany from Rome, so we spent the afternoon at nearby Civita di Bagnerregio, an incredible hilltop city that can only be reached by a footpath. We essentially used the hotel as a place to sleep. The staff spoke English and was very helpful and a very good breakfast was included -- yogurt, coffee, bread, jam, croissants, cereal, milk, fruit. It looked like we were the only Americans there -- the hotel was full and all the other guests appeared to be Italian with a couple of people from Ireland.

  • Liked — Clean, good breakfast, in general area of scenic attractions
  • Disliked — Immeidate surroundings

Stayed there for one night on the way to Orvieto. Hotel is about 10 minutes driving distance to the old city. Hotel was very basic and spartan, right off the highway and next to a railroad (no train stop nearby, thought). Room was fairly clean and breakfast ok. Parking is shared with a nearby restaurant and was pretty tight in the evening. Our window view was of a decrepit backyard and a railroad with the train passing through every once in a while. If considering a longer visit, you might want to look into staying in Orvieto itself, an absolutely charming Umbrian town, or look for an agriturismo accommodation nearby. Hotel served its purpose as a place to spend the night, thought it could have been a better value for the money.
