“Wonderful B&B and great value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

This is a fantastic place to stay. Our room was large and comfortable, almost like a suite, and very quiet overlooking a nice courtyard. It was very well located near the church. Our hosts were very accommodating - we had to leave very early, before breakfast, and in the morning we found a generous "breakfast to go" outside of our door. And as a bonus, the price was extremely reasonable. We wish that we could have stayed longer.

We stayed 3 nights in May 2014.
La Magnolia was an excellent choice and an excellent value as well. We'd gladly return.
As you can see from the title, the WIFI is strong and steady, the bed was nice and soft and comfortable, our room was very quiet (you can hear the church bells, but that's the case anywhere in Orvieto), and La Magnolia is situated right near the center of town, an excellent location for all the sightseeing and great restaurants.
Our room was one level up from the ground floor, to the right of the staircase in the back of the building. It was VERY large and the bathroom was large as well. There's a little sitting area just inside the door.
Serena, the owner, is super gracious and helpful. She's the hardest-working hotelier in the world! She is striving all the time 24/7 to ensure that her guests are happy.

Room Tip: Our room was one level up from the ground floor, to the right of the staircase in the back of the bu...

We are regular travellers to Italy and have stayed a number of times in Orvieto, one of our favourite cities there. This was our first time to stay longer than a week. I couldn't imagine any place better than at La Magnolia B&B. First of all, it is located a happy heartbeat away from the breathtaking beauty of Piazza del Duomo and the shopping and eating opportunities of Corso Cavour. Location? Big check mark! The proprietor Serena is one of the most gracious and welcoming persons I have ever met, not to mention her mother who baked us a delicious cake. Welcome and attention to service? Big check mark! We shared a two bedroom apartment suite with a friend. The kitchen had everything we needed to make delicious meals at home when we just couldn't face another fabulous feast at nearby trattorie or restaurants. The beds were comfortable. We couldn't hear any noise from the busy Via del Duomo and we had a lovely balcony with a spectacular view of the terracotta tiled roofs of the city, the Torre del Moro, and the top the spectacular duomo. Friends who visited us from Rome and elsewhere were impressed as well. If you do reserve one of the upper rooms be prepared for the walk up. There is no elevator, but the benefit of this built in palestra (gym) is that you can eat and drink and wear everything off easily. The well-stocked and friendly alimentari (grocery store), a fabulous panificio (bakery) and some of the best gelato you will ever set your lips to are right around the corner. Everything in Orvieto you want to do or see is within walking distance. If you are in town on a Thursday or Saturday morning don't miss the morning market in the Piazza del Popolo. Oh! And they have Wifi!

Room Tip: If you don't mind the stairs, ask for the apartment with the balcony. You can improve the alread...

Not only was La Magnolia inviting, spacious and beautiful, Serena, who owns and manages the property couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. This is a delightful place to stay, short or long term. The location was perfect. Right in the middle of Orvieto, but so quiet in the apartment. The rooms were gracious and comfortable and the view from the terrace enchanting. The kitchen was fully equipt, there is a washer dryer available and the hot water never stopped coming!
I will be returning again this year and recommend this property very highly. Thanks Serena, for such a fabulous experience!

I had the pleasure of staying at La Magnolia for about 12 days in April, and I could not have asked for a better experience. Serena, the wonderful owner could not have been more accomodating. She made us feel like family and that is a very rare quality in a b and b or Hotel stay. The apartment was beautiful, with a terazza that had an amazing view of the Duomo and surrounding countryside. Quiet, peaceful yet right in the heart of Orvieto. Thank you Serena for a delightful stay !!

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.

We only stayed one night in Orvieto, but given our experience we will have to return. The B&B itself is lovely and comes with a delicious included breakfast next door. But the hostess, Serena, was so gracious to us - even came to get us at the train station when we were stranded! The location is very central too.

We were lucky to get this room as there was a conference in Orvieto and rooms were full. Serena graciously upgraded us to the apartment room which was very pleasant. A sitting room, small kitchen and a separate bedroom. There was also a small balcony off the kitchen. It was all very clean, comfortable and quiet. Serena was so friendly and helpful, coming to our rescue as we accidentally drove into the ZTL and were stuck. She came with us and led us to the free parking area which is very close to the B&B and filled out the forms, so we wouldn't get a nasty ticket later. She also provided us with tips on where to eat and it was one of the best meals we had in Italy. Orvieto is a wonderful town and well worth at least two days. We really regret that we didn't stay another night, it is so pleasant and not overrun with tourists, at least in late March. Our only problem, was the internet did not work at all. Serena said that there was a problem in town, it wasn't just at the B&B and she tried to help us. Also, we were advised not to report to breakfast at the family bar until 8:30 or 9:00. When we arrived at 9:00 we were greeted with "your early" by her brother Alessandro. The food was the usual Italian danish, yogurt and coffee, but plenty to get you started and the coffee as always in Italy was delicious. I would not hesitate to stay here again as the central location and accommodations for the price are outstanding and Serena couldn't have been more friendly or helpful.
