Grand Hotel Orvieto had the most selection for breakfast of any of the 12 hotels we visited in our recent month in Italy. A great variety of cereals, breads, cheese, meats, fruit, hard-bolied eggs, yogurt, and one can "make" ones' own cup of cappuccino.

Tip: Refuse room 508. It is HOT in this room in the summer (2 or 3 walls are exposed to the sun, all day, so the A/C is not sufficient) and the WI FI is very weak in this room . . . it is far from the lobby, so I had to go into the stairwell to access the WI FI.

Nice hotel. Our room had beautiful balconies. Huge bathroom with a tiny shower. Only dislike were the two female front desk staff. Very rude and uncaring. When we were checking out the one of the women at the front desk was busy on Facebook so had her male coworker check us out. He was very friendly. Would try another hotel next time.

We stayed in Orvieto for two night and we were very happy with the room and the comfortable bed. We would definitely stay there again.

The location of this hotel is on a side street (alley?) and may be a little hard to find, but once you're there, it's a great location. You can walk everywhere easily and it's really convenient. The room was very clean and comfortable. There's a lovely terrace to relax and enjoy the view. The staff was polite and helpful. I would love to go back to Orvieto and if I did, that's where I would stay.

We stayed with our small child in a very nice room (size was quite large in comparison to most European hotels). However, the staff was a bit "cold." I asked for assistance finding some wine tasting places in town and the person working the desk said she would show me later on the map. We were only there for one overnight, so we decided to go looking on our own. Not a huge deal, but would have been nice to have recommendations from a local as to where they thought we should go. Would I stay there again? Yes, for the money it is a reasonable hotel. Just not the best place we've stayed in our two years living in Napoli!

I found this hotel to have great value for a single room. I needed a room for one night at the last minutes, and usually the single rooms are the forgotten stepchild in hotels, this was not. Plenty of room, nice view, good internet, and great value at 65E per night. Breakfast was plentiful, and I wished I had more time to spend there.

Room Tip: This was a single room, but was roomy with a large king bed. Ask for rooms on higher floors.

Reviewed 26 April 2012

We decided to spend our last night in Orvieto on the spur of the moment so booked this hotel after reading reviews. It was pouring rain and our GPS was useless in the town and all streets were one-way the wrong way. But we finally dragged in and discovered a wonderful respite for the end of the trip.

We had a lovely room (standard size and the same room as on the website). We had a balcony with a wonderful view once the rain stopped.

The staff recommended two great restaurants for lunch and dinner within walking distance.

A previous reviewer complained of the clock every 15 minutes. We were on the 5th floor right across from the clock and it didn't bother us, though in fairness we had the doors closed.

The hotel was with walking distance of the Duomo and the main walking street so a great location. Well.
