“A Relaxing Week”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

I would recommend a visit to this hotel for its relaxed atmosphere and friendly helpful staff, especially Madaleina in reception who couldn't do enough to help and advise.
The restaurant staff also are helpful and friendly and the food, although a little 'Nouvelle Cuisine' for me I couldn't fault for quality and taste. As you would expect in Italy, perfect pasta dishes everytime. Also worth a mention are the poolside bar staff, who worked hard to ensure my wife and I had a relaxing time.
The hotel is situated on the side of quite a steep slope so may not be suitable for travellers with mobility issues, but the situation afforded a great view of the private beach and it's bay.
The pool is the place to be during the day, but beware when you first get into the water as it is a little chilly at first.
During our stay we shared the hotel with a group of 20/30 Italian models there for a photo shoot of some kind and I can honestly say I have never seen so many beautiful people together before in my life which for the normal looking folk amongst us was a bit humbling. Also if you like wearing 'budgie smugglers' you would fit right in!!
I can also recommend the day trip to the 'Madelaina Islands' a beautiful area with some stunning beaches.
All in all a great week, we would happily return here in the future.

Room Tip: The rooms in the higher part of the hotel seem to have a better view, but honestly they all seem pre...

Porto Cuevo is the home of luxury boats, luxury stores and summer on the water. This part of the coast is expensive. The Grand Hotel is about 2k out of town overlooking a private beach. The pool bars and restaurants are ideal for a lazy summer break. The walk down to beach is 5 mins, stopping at the Beach Restaurant and bar ... It's such a great place to just be... It's easy to sit an be for a ver long time.

The Orange restaurant is fusion and great good again special view for evening meal

This is a great place to be...it's a retreat for Yoga classes and has a functional gym (could be easily improved ) ..

Rooms are good fictional Mediterranean garden rooms done mean the car park view they all face the sea just some further back and higher up

This is a haunt for footballers and well heeled... It can get lively but don't expect resort entertainment. The staff team are helpful to a fault and friendly

You will need a car. Lots of economic restaurants within a few KM but beware fish is sold per 100gm and whilst the food is spectacular (not surprising) given the clients it can expensive...

This is not a resort it's a place where people come to rest or do stuff like sail or spend the summer

The season is short and starts at beginning of July when prices go up by about a third..

Plenty of boat hire and sailing up to €300 per person depending on taste... Many beaches only accessible by boat. Hotel will arrange anything from a fiat 500 to a Lambourgini ...

It's what you want to make it but if you are coming to this coast line this is a perfect base... Just don't expect a hotel band and pool games !! This is a bolt hole... Bring your credit card and don't complain and you will love it

stayed with some friends on a long weekend yoga break. beautiful setting. lovely hotel and staff, food in Orange restaurant excellent and good value for money. the hotel strikes the right balance, for me, of having everything you'd expect from a good hotel but without any fussy formality.
it broke my heart having to leave.i'm coming back for longer next time.
although there were a few children there, its not really a kid's hotel, there's no kids club or anything, like that so i guess that's why its so lovely and quiet.
its a very relaxed vibe (sorry, hate that word) with the daybeds etc and the chill-out music.

Just back from 4 days of Yoga at the Grand hotel, my room was lovely, overlooking the garden, spotless, beautifully decorated and very comfy. The staff are polite, friendly and willing to organise any trips to the markets, boat trips etc. The Orange restaurant was not open due to it being early in the season, but the restaurant by the pool was serving great food.
The yoga was fantastic, The yoga was lead by amazing teachers on decks overlooking the beach which was very relaxing listening to the sea. Easy transfer from Olbia airport.
Yoga brunch was delicious, with a great variety of choice. Can't wait to go back

I booked this 'luxury beach holiday' through secretescapes, on arrival first impressions were poor, we were shown to a dismal, fusty smelling room with no view...after surveying the beach I thought it was anything but luxurious, it was dirty, not maintained and 'a local' was hiring out flimsy umbrellas for 25 euros a day! and told us to move away from his area! There is also constant piped music wherever you go and so to relax and escape or read becomes quite difficult, however the lovely bartender did turn it down and put something on more appropriate.
I complained to the sardatours holiday representative..he was very understanding and we got a lovely, basic but clean room with a sea view the next day. Permanent Parasols were installed on the beach and it was swept which made a great difference to the impression of the place.
The location is awful, there is no where to safely walk to and so the only choices are to eat at the hotel or take a taxi ride which again are very costly, 20-30 euros for a 5 minute journey each way. Porto cervo is not worth visiting, it is man made construction with no authentic charm at all just empty designer shops catering for the local millionaires.
However, the staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was nice and the evening meals were delicious but they were small portions and very expensive for what you got. I ended up spending £500 more than I expected to. We did enjoy ourselves very much by then end of the holiday but to be honest we could have got much better value elsewhere.
I would advise anyone choosing this place to hire a car so that you have some choices of where to eat and places to visit.
(unable to submit a photo as Ipad broken!)

Room Tip: ask for a sea view.

Just returned fully re- .energised after only 3 days at this lovely hotel .
The staff really looked after us yogis by providing special brunch after class leaving rest of day to either sit by the large pool area or go down to beach -- both have stunning views
Many hours spent relaxing on the comfy sofas on the terraces
Room was spotless and had daily maid service. Shower could have been bit bigger and maybe more powerful but otherwise a perfect stay
Local cheap restaurants 10 minute walk away if you prefer not to eat in hotel

The staff are polite, friendly and willing to organise any trips to the markets, boat trips etc. The Orange restaurant was not open due to it being early in the season, but the main restaurant was available serving great food.
The yoga was fantastic, I was a beginner and was made to feel very welcome by Zoe, who is an amazing teacher the deck overlooked the beach which was very relaxing listening to the sea.
Yoga brunch was delicious, with a great variety of choice and lots of it, with a posh coffee machine to finish it off.. This was a great holiday and I met many lovely people, thank you.
