“Tough hike!”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

I had no idea how difficult the trail around the island would be for me. I would not recommend it without poles and good shoes, it is narrow at time and very rocky in places. Beautiful views, allow at least 2-3 hours to do it. The restaurant Locanda Lorena is an excellent restaurant we had lunch at there with picturesque views of the Ligurian sea and Portovenere

“Gentle Walk and Great Views”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

We visited the Isalnd of Palmaria during our walking holiday in Italy. The island is a short boat ride from Portovenere. The walk around the island can be completed in under two hours and there are plenty of views across the Gulf of Poets and the Ligurian Sea. After our walk, there is a quaint hotel for lunch and a refreshing bevvie. The traditional pizza was good. We spent half a day on the island and the remainder of the day looking around Portovenere.

“Best with a private boat”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

They arrange a 4 people taxi boat trip for 10 euros each and that's the best to see every detail and the islands for one hour. You may also arrange it to stay at a beach and be picked up to return.

“Best seaside spot between Lavagna and Forte”
Reviewed 9 December 2012

I like to come here by boat with friends from Bocca di Magra or after parking the car in Portovenere and catching a local boat commuting between Portovenere and Palmaria. At Palmaria you can swim, walk in the macchia mediterranea or eat at the 2 r'ants feet on the water one of them.
