“If you only visit one restaurant in Postiano”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

We chose this as one of our must do restaurants in Positano, we had seen it on trip advisor as well as being recommended by our hotel. As we were staying locally their shuttle collected us, our only negative experience of the whole night is the shuttle was 30 mins late grr however its understandable based on Positano's one way, single lane winding roads.

Located in Montepertuso (hills above Positano) the shuttle tasks you the 20 min drive up the winding roads. The restaurant itself is almost loft like, a wooden huge open restaurant with amazing views of the city below.

This is a family run restaurant, whilst beautiful it has a laid back atmosphere. There is no menu rather you receive a selection of seasonal house specialties based on seasonal produce. They make their own wine, giving you a choice of red or white plus water.

For two for dinner we has:
1. Bruschetta
2. About five small plates of appetisers, these ranged from meat and cheese to delicious aubergine salads
3. Pasta - a large plate to share with a selection of home made pastas - delicious
4. Meat - another large sharing plate with a huge variety of meats, from salad to chicken to lamb and beef
5. Dessert - a selection of sweets, cakes and fruit
6. Limoncello

This restaurant offers great food (and lots of it), family style service and is great value. For dinner it was eur 35 per head which included alcohol, water and food. Nowhere have I ever had such a good meal at this price.

Tips:
- You must make a reservation
- Don't eat all day ahead of your visit and pace yourself

“Unbelievable! Best food in Positano”
Reviewed 27 July 2014 via mobile

This is definitely up there with one of the best meals I have ever eaten. It is a family run restaurant and they are so friendly to you. One of the people working there (I think he was the son) came and introduced himself to us and explained a bit about the restaurant. There's no menu, this is as they grow all of the foods that they cook and cook what they have in season. They bring you out so much food, which is the most delicious food you will eat and the wine is their brand of wine which is great. It was so cheap too. If we ever come back to Positano we will definitely be coming back here to eat. It is the best

“Great family resraurant”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

La Tagliata was recommended by my friend so while i was in Positano I thought a give it a try. We had fantastic home cook meal like my mamma use to cook, the food kept on coming we had antipasto, pasta, meat and salad then desert and finished off with a lemoncello. I thought I had died and gone to heaven what a great meal and great service. This restaurant is located high on top of the mountain looking down at the foreshore of Positano which was the best view i have every seen. I would definitely be back.

“Amazing Dinner”
Reviewed 26 July 2014 via mobile

We traveled to Florence, Rome and Positano during our trip and this meal was the best. Great family run restaurant, great food and great views. What else could you want? For 35 Eur you get all the food you could ever want and wine. They run a free shuttle bus from the other hotels in Positano. Amazing experience. One of our top 5 meals from all of our travels. Highly recommended.

“A by the seat of your pants dining adventure”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

Wow simply describes La Tagliata. It all starts with the drive up the mountain which while leaving you breathless can also leave you fearing for your life. While many have mentioned the shuttle arriving late to pick up guests, if it does you can blame one of two factors, other buses clogging up the streets or other guests not stepping out to meet the bus on time. Carrying on, the drive up the Positano country side is breathtaking from the view, to vespa's careening around corners to two way traffic navigating a one lane road, the drive is simply adventurous.

Upon arriving at the restaurant you are greeted by an amazing view and and amazing property. this restaurant seems to have 2 or 3 different levels to host diners. We were seated at the lower level area reserved for smaller parties and right off the kitchen where "mama" is furiously cooking up a storm. Vincenzo greets you upon seating and gives you an intro into the nights happenings and asks about allergies and food limitations. After that it's a non stop foodie delight served over 4-5 courses. I can't recall exactly as my mind stopped working after the 8 antipasto dishes. The dishes were so good my wife and I both ate tomatoes and egglplant which up until yesterday you would have had to tie our hands behind our back and force feed us to ever accomplish the same feat.

Dinners near by are extremely friendly, likely plied with the excellent table wine and great food. And if you're lucky they'll warn you not to clear your plate at each course over fears of over indulging. I've never said this before but the appetizers/antipasto where the highlight of this meal. And being all vegetarian options is even more surprising to me. That's not to say the rest of the courses were bad, it was just truly refreshing to have vegetable prepared so deliciously that it didn't matter that they were vegetables.

In any case, once you're done dining they roll you back into the bus to transport you back to Positano. Like others have mentioned this trip will be slightly more raucous as everyone shares in the nights experiences and emphatically describes how they'll visit music under the rocks tomorrow as they're too scared to attempt it tonight. Before you leave, any attempt to take a picture of the kitchen or "mama" will get you an escorted trip into the kitchen to have your picture taken with mama. How could you not.

Enjoy and remember me when you talk about one of the best meals you had in Italy.
